(It's a silent movie. The audio text .01-.21 before the silent movie is: "I'm Andria Alefhi, editor of the literary zine We'll Never Have Paris (3 photos then) and I'm Enrico Miguel Thomas, and I'm a visual artist. I'm also the cover artist for the zine (3 photos then) and now a silent film!")
Since 2007, published in NYC independently by Andria Alefhi, We'll Never Have Paris (WNHP) is the only literary journal of nonfiction memoir. So small in size and scope that it's actually a ZINE. It's definitely a zine in that it's a non-profit endeavor. It's zine in values - I encourage first time writers and publish authors multiple times. It's zine in price - it's affordable for everyone and sold in zine sections in bookstores and zine distros. Most importantly, it's zine with community spirit. We need each other.
WNHP needs writers. Everyone can write their story! WNHP needs artists - Andria can't draw! WNHP needs readers - the book needs to be held between two loving hands like a mug of hot coffee. We want you to love it. Print is awesome! But it costs money.
Publishing a zine involves printing, mailing, advertising and designing. All of these cost money - none of which we get from advertising or companies. I set a fundraising goal of $500 which is the cost of printing and mailing 200 copies of an issue, the website cost for one year, and a few dollars left towards paying the cover artist, instead of asking my friends to donate their talent for free. And now that we have exceeded that goal, we're very excited because we can pay our friend Chad for making the video for this project! So, if you got this far, please don't not donate because we have met the goal. I set it for $500 to make it minimally achieveable, but believe me, we can spend that money on more printing and mailing and supporting the work done for free!
**(Hey! If you got this far and read all of it, suggestion for potential backers. Go ahead and choose a donation package on the right side of the screen Several folks have made an awesome donation but not chosen a pre-selected amount that includes your rewards!)
Risks and challenges
No real challenges! Printing is insanely expensive, and I can only afford this because I have a friend who prints it at cost. You'll get WNHP 11 and all fun handmade rewards, and WNHP 13 next year.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
