Hey guys, I'm Chloe Cunningham! Welcome to my Kickstarter!
I'm printing a (very) small run of the first issue of my webcomic, Crow Summer. It's 40 pages long, full color, and a lot of fun.
Crow Summer is a fantasy comic set in modern rural Missouri. During student vampire hunter Nina Schneider's summer vacation, she gets stuck babysitting a werewolf. The two of them spend their time fighting things, be it vampires, neighborhood kids, their feelings, or… you guessed it…. birds.
This comic is always free to read online and I'm currently posting a page a week over at Tapas. It's a beautiful comic online… but since I designed it for print, it's even better that way! I'm so excited to share it in the reading format it was intended for, and I know that you'll really enjoy it, too!
So, without further ado:
One: A postcard! I'll send one lovely colorful postcard straight to your mailbox/PO box/front door/spaceship mail holder. I'll also sign it and doodle a Crow Summer character of your choice. :)
Two: Stickers! A sticker pack of five stickers. There's a Nina chibi, a Reese chibi, a Fred the Peke chibi, and two birds. They're paper and come with a tiny thank-you note. :)
Three: Reesecue Mission Zine! This is a zine printing of my 2017 Free Comic Book Day comic. It's an 8-page black-and-white comic featuring the Crow Summer character Reese spending a day by himself. It also has 4 colorful extra pages of character and concept art and notes. :)
Four: CROW SUMMER ISSUE ONE: THE BIRDS! This is the actual issue. It's 40 pages, full color, nothin' but sweet, sweet story. Saddle stitch, standard comic book specs. Printed professionally.
Five: All the things! If every single one of these rewards just looks awesome to you, this is the tier for you. So much Crow Summer, so many birds. Incredible.
"BUT WAIT," you may say, "WHAT IF I WANT A BOOK AND SOME STICKERS BUT NOTHING ELSE??" Well, friends, you're in luck… here's an add-on sheet. (So, for that example, just buy the book tier and add 5$ to your pledge for a pack of stickers.)
This add-on list is also great for anyone who wants to order more than one of an item— so if both you and your sister/boyfriend/roomate/dog/etc want a postcard (or if you’re addicted to postcards and want 2), you can just add 3$ to your postcard tier instead of ordering twice, thereby saving you a dollar and me a bit on postage.
My estimated budget for prices:
I'm expecting the extra 20% to be used up on currently unforeseen printing/shipping expenses. If by some miracle it isn't, it's going to the Crow Summer Website fund to help build the comic a more permanent Internet home. :)
Chloe Cunningham (that’s me!) is a comic artist and cardiovascular technology student who lived in Missouri once for like a year and thought it was so unbelievably magical that it deserved its own fantasy comic series. She also finds birds supernaturally astounding and of the various and sundry birdfolk that reside on the hobby farm where she lives, ducks are her favorites. Pileated woodpeckers are cool, too. Neither of those appear in her comic for some reason.
Risks and challenges
The entire issue is already drawn and formatted, and I've had a test issue printed to ensure quality with the printer and the print format. It looks great!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
