Project GODUS; A very worthy game on Kickstarter could really use your support!

Posted by Winterkewl Games LLC (Creator)

Hi everyone!

Peter Molyneux and his fellow geniuses at 22cans are running a kickstarter campaign over at:

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/22cans/project-godus

And to me it looks amazing!! Everyone, please if you have a bit of spare monies and you like awesome god games by the master of the genre! Please please go and give em you support!

I do sincerely apologize to people that I have wronged by this unsolicited spam. . . My intentions were pure I swear! Just trying to help a fellow developer, didn't mean any offence. Again, sincerely I'm very sorry.

      Can't remember how much I pledged, do I get alpha access or do I need to wait until the beta?

    2. Buehler on

      Does the Beta version upgrade to the finished version when you complete the project?
      I am a student, am and wondering if I should pledge in the "Student" or "Follower" tier.
      I'd love to have the full game when it is finished, but I can't really afford to "buy" the beta & then buy the full game.;. essentially buying it twice.

      Great work guys, and I'm excited for the finished project!

      Molyneu has enough money in his checking account to fund the game. He chooses not to pay for it to exist and there is no reason for any sane person to trust him more with your money than he trusts himself with his own. Furthermore, he hasn't made a good game in decades.

      Please do not use KS to throw ads at us.

      I appreciate the apology. As someone else has said, a small footnote at the bottom of a normal update may be acceptable. A full page spread of another game can only be considered as spam in this section.

      Please consider the interests of everyone, not just some unknown amount that may be interested. The only thing you know we all have in common is support for Yogventures, so please keep the topic on that.

      @Chris Lindsay

      I enjoy how you focused on the most meaningless part of my post and pretty much admitted, through silence, the rest of it.

      He is the least deserving of people's money and support than any other dev I know of right now. He has never once fulfilled a promise he made. This time will be no different.

      @Chris

      I wish you and other would stop assuming Peter is rich. Peter has put a vast amount of his money into setting up 22cans and creating curiosity. Remember Curiosity is not making any kind of income right now and if anything has put them at a loss to keep the servers going. He had to pay the team who created it as well.

      Wow, people here are real jerks!
      Already pledged for the godus, looks a great successor for "Black & White" game

      Isn't this the same guy who has never once delivered on the promises he's made?

      Hasn't every part of the Fable series, which he created, not only failed to live up to expectations and promises he's made but has also been considered worse with every installment?

      No thanks. I think I'll save my money for someone who is competent.

      Plus this guy doesn't need money. He's just being cheap.

      I'd overlooked Godus several times. Didn't realize it was being led by the maker of some of my favorite games. Thanks for pointing it out, hope it succeeds. Sorry, there's a bunch of people who come to Kickstarter to surprisingly, not support projects.

      I don't consider this spam at all. I would give Godus money if I wasn't already a backer.

      If I wanted to fund a game made by a man who breaks every promise he makes i'd have already done it. Otherwise please keep the marketing spam to a minimum.

      I was all excited to see what fantastic new stuff would be in this new update in my inbox, but then came the disappointment. :(

      Yes, indeed this is what the spirit of Kickstarter is about, but there are more suitable places for it than the project updates section of a project (I don't think anyone would be against having a shoutout at the bottom of an update actually related to the project, but not the entire content of an update).

      No need to apologize to anyone Kris. This is the whole spirit of what Kickstarter is all about and I think it's cool that you gave that project a nice shout out. Most projects do it and you shouldn't feel the need to apologize for trying to help them by mentioning it here. So thank you for the update and I hope it helps them get funded. The Yogscast guys are a bunch of nice charitable people who do this kind of thing all the time...too bad alot of their fans don't feel the same. Happy Holidays, good luck on developing Yogscast, and please ignore the trolls.

      I think it's far better that they're trying to help fellow developers get funding to make great games. Although I've already backed Godus long ago, I definitely appreciate the shout out to bring it to the attention of more users. In my opinion this is far better than letting the big publishers get their hands on the talent. Thank you Winterkewl!

      I see nothing wrong with this. Kickstarter gave Kris an amazing opportunity and its nice of him to share this with us and perhaps give the people at 22cans the same opportunity. If you have a look at the project you will see it may be something people are interested in because its a sandbox game like Yogventures.

    25. joelsweb on

      You should check out the Oculus Rift (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1523379957/oculus-rift-step-into-the-game/) on Kickstarter. Extremely professional updates, photos and updates, as well as solid dates that even include a gantt chart detailing the full development process right up to product delivery.

      I have to beg the question as to why their professionalism, considering both projects share a common target goal ($250,000), can not be replicated here? This just amounts to spam and is unacceptable.

    26. Unabanzie on

      Already backed it! And I cant wait! I think its great that you are supporting fellow devs by bumping their stuff! We've already had an update just yesterday, so I don't see what the problem is myself. Its not spam, its supporting other awesome ideas! Keep up the good work \o/

      @Winterkewl Games LLC
      I think most backers will agree the sole reason they are subscribed is to get updates on this sole game. People who want general info on the Kickstarter community will have ways of getting that, it's not your choice to make, "m8".

    28. Dave Folan on

      I agree that this is spam, I'm subscribed to get updates on Yogventures, not other games, please don't abuse this.

    29. Winterkewl Games LLC Creator on

      @David I'm sorry m8 but I disagree, it's fair to say THE MAIN reason for updates is as you describe, but Kickstarter is a community and updates are a great way to communicate to everyone about anything the community might be interested in. Sorry if you consider that spam! It wasn't my intent.
