Let's make this Jura wine book happen!
Thank you for the amazing support during the first week of this Kickstarter campaign – as I write this, the target is 42% funded, more than I dared hope for at this stage. I am humbled by the number of wine professionals in particular who are putting their faith in me to write this, the first book in English on the Jura region. It shows that there is a real buzz about this little wine region of France and the time is definitely right for a book.
I have spent the past few days in the Jura partly at the organic winegrowers fair, Le Nez dans le Vert, and then in meetings and more tastings. Producers are really excited about their increased exports around the world, and both encouraging and grateful when I explain about the book and this project – a few have offered to help spread the word about it through their importers in the Americas, Scandinavia and beyond.
Steve de Long – Wine Map creator and designer
Many people have been complimentary about the book cover design and for this I must thank Steve de Long, who some of you may know as the genius behind De Long wine maps, tasting booklet and grape variety table. His map of France is below. Steve is from the USA but lives with his wife and family in London. He is a big fan of unusual grape varieties and wine regions, so not surprisingly loves Jura wines too.
Steve has put his faith in my Jura book project and together we are already planning what maps to include in the book – yes, there will be more than one. He is also going to design the book and help coordinate the printing process, so I am in very good hands.
Please help make this book happen – so far 107 Backers believe in it!
Remember if I do not reach the target, this book will not be printed, and reluctantly, I will write it as a simple e-book, with few photos and one sole map. Do help spread the word across the world of wine lovers and if you haven’t yet pledged, please do consider it if you can. If you have pledged, thank you again, and please, through email, conversations and social media, encourage your contacts to help fund the production of this book on the gorgeous little Jura wine region.
Feel free to contact me with any questions at all.
