Be a part of making a dream two years in the making a reality!
Independent hip-hop artists Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and director Zia Mohajerjasbi, who first collaborated on 2009's "The Town," are set to film an ambitious music video to accompany "WINGS," the first single on Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' upcoming LP. Featuring the Denny International Middle School Choir and orchestral arrangements, the song was released on January 21st, and within a week has accrued tens of thousands of plays and positive reviews.
This video collaboration endeavors to bring each artist's existing work to a greater scale. The multi-layered narrative of "WINGS" incorporates the personal story of Macklemore and extends outwards to several generations who hold the Nike Jordans shoe line as a touchstone of their youth. The sweeping, cinematic visuals will be captured with an Arri Alexa, a state of the art digital cinema camera system. Nearly all of the labor, including hundreds of hours of music and video production, will have been volunteered by a large, dedicated and impassioned team of artists who wish to see this project realized.
All proceeds generated from the Kickstarter campaign will go towards covering basic production costs that will allow for an uncompromised final product. A typical music video of this caliber would require a budget of well over $100,000. We hope to raise a minimum of $10,000 so that our work can hold its own.
We appreciate all of the support that's been shown Macklemore, Ryan Lewis and Zia's work over the last two years, and we are excited to deliver this project from humble, grassroots beginnings to the world. We ask now for your support in participating in this project and guiding this vision to life.
"WINGS" is a project of Love&Shoestrings, an approach that integrates young people and community voices into the video production process.
