Just thought I check back here and realized shipments have started to Canada again. That's great news. To that point, I haven't received any email or update to my windowfarm... Should I be expecting some email or a package in the mail???
Anyone still check this out? I've just received my windowfarm after years of waiting! No idea how to set it up, the my.windowfarms.com site is no longer active or hasn't been for the last week or more... I just want to know how to set this item up, or at least make sure I have all the correct pieces before trying to figure it out myself. I have a 1 column tower. I finally got mine too. (Hurray!!!) There are some missing parts, but I could build 3 out of 4 columns no problems. I am writing here to check wether other people have some spare parts or missing parts...
I do miss:
1 translucent reservoir (bottom one with the min/max window)
1 Rigid Tube
1 Flexible Tube
8 "Black tubes" connectors (to make the "o-rings" shape for the nets)
1 Pump that fits 4 tubes
I do have extra:
2 Grey Rubber tubing connectors (the ones that connect the hooked rigid tubes together on the Base)
3 Extra handles
3 Pumps that fit 1 tube each
If there is anyone who would have/need any of these parts, I'd be more than happy to take them from you/give them to you.
Should of course have been "can't make it happen" ...
So all international backers but for the Canadiens are still being neglected? Come on! How hard can it be to post an update even if it's - sorry we can make it happen. Being left in the dark is just so damn cowardly ...
Susan, Britta emailed all of the Canadian backers and said that she was able to deliver some of them not all of them. Those that she wasn't able to personally deliver were available for pickup for two days at a storage unit in Toronto.
If you didn't receive the email, I imagine it is too late at this point. Either she didn't have your correct email address or it ended up in your spam folder.
(*nor* have they been in contact...)
I haven't been on this page for a while, and now see that some Canadian windowfarms have been delivered. Mine has not; now have they been in contact with me, despite emails to them. How do you contact the people??
After hounding Windowfarms on their twitter and facebook page, I'm happy that at least some international backers have received theirs. My friend picked mine up for me so I still have to get it from her. If my car had been operating that week I would have taken some for people further north than me. Anyway, thanks for making the effort to bring the Canadadian backers their windowfarms. I hope you are able to do something for those international backers. I don't expect you to fly all over the world but if you can't deliver them somehow, those people deserve a refund.
Also received mine last week, got it working in my lab's window at McGill University in Montreal. Unfortunately I was not there to meet Britta so my roomate got the package. Thanks for following with the promise of delivery even more than 2 years later. This is a great display of integrity and dedication!
Thank you, thank you, thank you Britta for coming to Canada and delivering the Windowfarms. It's such a relief to have met the Britta Riley I supported all those years back. I am so excited to be able start gardening in my loft.
I also picked up my 4-column window farm this evening. It was nice to meet Britta and get a small demo. After so long I had expected this to be a Kickstarter bust for Canadians but personally transporting and organizing pick-ups shows an incredible level of dedication. Thanks for coming through on your promise Britta! I look forward to getting back into the Windowfarm game again after trying the 2 DIY versions (with some success but nowhere near the nice clean set up the kickstarter version).
Just got back from picking up my windowfarm as well. Britta was helpful and explained how to set it up. She said i traveled the furthest to get mine. Reggie, I think we may have been there at the same time. I'm glad to say that after 2.5 years, I can close this Kickstarter project and move on and get growing.
UPDATE: I went to the storage unit to pick up my Windowfarm. After 2.5 years, I can finally say I have it! Can't wait to start my mini food garden! Britta personally gave me the Windowfarm and showed me how to set everything up. She was really nice to talk to and glad she kept her promise to hand deliver the Windowfarms to Canadian backers.
Got an email stating my Windowfarm has arrived as well. I'll be going to pick it up this afternoon in Toronto.
Got an email today stating my window farm has arrived. Apparently Britta and her mother are hand delivering them to Canadian backers. Unfortunately they are unable to deliver to my address with their allotted time frame so I have to pick up from at storage unit tomorrow at 12. I will update here to see how this goes.
Well, it took 2 and a half years, but mine was delivered yesterday in Montreal. It was on my doorstep (on a Saturday). So I think Britta might be coming through with their promise to hand deliver them to Canada! (That was the last email I got from them, two years ago)
I had written them off as a a kickstarter loss, and I wasn't mad. If you've never done this before, you wouldn't realize that building the support in one piece would make it impractical to ship them. I've had better experiences since. It's all part of the risks you assume.

Pave.com, another crowdfunding platform, has selected Britta Riley as a NYC "Rising Star". Stealing from backers and then completely ignoring them sounds professional to me.
I had to reply on Twitter, and I hope other backers in the same situation will too.

So more money came in after the Kickstarter campaign, and clearly the funds weren't used to ship the rewards to international backers or refund their money. Cute.

I am a another backer from Canada who has had no contact, no product shipped, and am unable to get my money back.
I'm not getting any response on my emails. I was promised to get my money back as the product could not be delivered. That is not the case. I'm furious about this behavior. Dutch Police can't do anything. 338$ is too small damage….

I am also still waiting in Canada ... I don't understand the issues ... I bet if I went to their website and purchased a double tower unit I would get that order before the initial order that helped them get off their feet ...

I'm waiting my reward here in Spain and I have the same frustrating experience of useless and unriplied emails to their support page. Should we take into consideration a class action against Windowfarms?
I'm also waiting for the product in Cyprus and I'm receiving no reply to my messages... I just tried messaging them via facebook, too, but now I'm reading that others have tried that before to no avail. This is just disrespectful and bad business conduct.

well, me and my sister ordered a kit each to Australia, got nothing so far. I tried email, forms on their websites, facebook and twitter, but received no answers ever. So, dear Windowfarms project, at least now you are aware of the Canadians waiting for their kits, please also remember the other international backers! We paid for international shipping, I can't see the problem as you seem to be able to produce and ship things to the US!
Here is the text of a written statement submitted by Britta to the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation earlier this week. I will let you all do your own analysis of the text: I am fairly certain you will have a lot to say, especially given that this is the first contact we've had from the Windowfarms project in many, many months, and it wasn't even to us directly!
"Justin from Kickstarter contacted me on your behalf.
He said you are working a piece on Kickstarter manufacturing projects and that you "have talked with more than a dozen backers who feel they've been defrauded [by me]."
I am very very sad to hear that. I'm guessing that these are some of the 153 Canadian backers whose Windowfarms I am still working as fast as I can to deliver.
I am so grateful to every one of my backers for seeing my vision with me. They came on board for a wild ride. Our shared vision was to start a manufacturing business that would support essentially a distributed global community garden. enable us to grow food in our own homes and bring healthy, sustainable practices to indoor gardening while learning from one another's experience in an online community.
This project has been at once one of the most fulfilling in my life and by far the most challenging.
I could not be any more aware or concerned about fulfilling my Canadian backers orders as quickly as possible. We already made good on the vast majority of our 1577 backers' rewards but these remaining folks' orders keep me up at night. Canadians have always been some of the most passionate folks in the Windowfarms open community that I started this business to support. I am working as fast and as hard as I can to fulfill these rewards.
It has been incredibly fulfilling to see my dream of microfarming in cities year-round spread to thousands of families across the United States.
However, I won't be satisfied until all of Windowfarms' international backers have gotten to grow their own crops as well. The backers in Canada will hear from me soon. I'm working on a specific new tool that will let me handle each of their cases efficiently. They will definitely be the first people in Canada to receive Windowfarms.
Shortly after that, I hope to bring Windowfarms to many more families in Canada who may have missed the opportunity to book theirs what turned out to be so far in advance.
Again, I have only deep thanks for every backer who joined me on this ride through the many new frontiers in urban farming, social enterprise, and entrepreneurship, and perhaps even something that will turn out to be a new twist on capitalism.

Totally agree with Matt. I'm living in the Netherlands and despite written promises on refunds no reaction at all on emails since January. I didn't think about going to the credit card company. Good suggestion! In the meantime I did go to the Dutch Police and started a legal case due to this unacceptable treatment.
