Reanimation Scheme is a romance visual novel with necromancy, love, life and death as its central themes, woven together in a carefully crafted tale about discovering long-buried secrets — and yourself.
Step into the shoes of the necromancer, Raenelle, whose wish for a break from work was granted in the most unexpected way possible — the sudden disappearance of the spirits of the deceased. Meet a colorful cast of characters, fail to summon the spirits of the dead, unravel mysteries, and maybe — just maybe — fall in love.
Ready to call upon spirits from beyond, fend off the catty remarks from a talking familiar and accidentally stumble across secrets you’d rather not know? Download the demo of this otome visual novel from the Itch.io link below now!

As a necromancer, Raenelle Talisko is tasked with the job of reanimating the corpses of the recently deceased to help them fulfill their last wishes. Between the never-ending workload and the myriad of angry or distraught spirits she has to deal with, Raenelle longs for a vacation — and more importantly, a promotion to a different position.
As though the Twelve Deities have heard Raenelle’s prayers, all the spirits somehow vanish overnight, giving her the break she’s been asking for. That is until Raenelle is summoned to the Headquarters of the Imperial Necromancy Authority along with all death mages, tasked with resolving this crisis that has thrown the kingdom into panic.
Unfortunately, there is no time for Raenelle to rest — not when she finds herself becoming increasingly entangled in the mystery of the missing spirits, discovering much more than she asked for.

With Reanimation Scheme being a visual novel, I definitely want to do the visual part justice. All the art for the game is hand-drawn by a team of talented freelance artists!
Let’s start with the character art! Almost every character with some sort of significance or have repeated appearances in the story will have their very own sprite. This means a vivid, big cast of characters to meet — and all the more pretty, unattainable side characters for you to drool over and secretly hate me for.
To avoid having our sprites feel too static and boring after a while, each character has not only lively expression variations, but also multiple head tilts and arm movements. Almost every main character also has multiple outfits to fit different parts of the game!
Speaking of parts of the story, 5 key moments in each route will be illustrated by a CG. They will be revisitable in a gallery accessible from the game menu as well.
As for the environment art, there are over 20 beautiful backgrounds in the game to bring the kingdom of Nalenshir to life! Almost every single one has multiple variations for daytime and nighttime.
Last but not least, to make the story as immersive as possible, there are additional small bits of art, such as illustrations of items or animated magic effects, to spice up the visual novel even more!
There is an original soundtrack for Reanimation Scheme to be used as background music! You can listen to some of the tracks below:
On top of that, there is a theme song for each main character, complete with vocals! Raenelle’s theme song can be heard in the game trailer at the top of the Kickstarter page, but if you want to listen to the full song, you can listen to it below:
Partial Voice Acting
One of the most exciting things about Reanimation Scheme is that the main characters have partial voice acting. The partial voice acting will mainly consist of repeatable uses of sounds, utterances and some key phrases, as well as fully voiced dialogue for the CG scenes!
An extremely talented and professional cast of voice actors will be bringing the characters to life! The recording will be done in-person in a professional studio, with a sound editor to process the files, which should hopefully ensure the quality of the voiceover in Reanimation Scheme.
You can have a taste of what the partial voice acting sounds like in the game demo or the trailer above. Or you can watch the video of a snippet from the game demo below to see the partial voice acting in action!
Please note that the voiceover lines we currently have in the game demo and trailer are recorded by the voice actors at home using their own equipment. In-studio recording will be done for the full game instead!
If you're not a fan of partial voice acting — no problem! You'll be able to toggle off the voices in the game settings.
As Reanimation Scheme is a visual novel, which is somewhat like a type of interactive fiction, you’ll be mainly doing a lot of reading of dialogue and narration.
At certain moments in the story, usually at least once every chapter, you’ll be asked to make a choice out of several available options.
In Reanimation Scheme, there are no strictly wrong choices that would lead to an early “game over”. However, you do bear the consequences of your decisions, which may result in outcomes that are less desirable than others. With 4 possible endings per route — and multiple fates available for the side characters — be very careful with every choice you make!
If the base goal is reached, the money received (post-Kickstarter fees) will mainly be used to pay the freelance artists and voice actors working on Reanimation Scheme.
Writing and programming will be done by me, Windchimes, so there won’t be any expenses in that regard.
As for the remaining areas of production (i.e. GUI, music, miscellaneous art, etc.), I’ll be covering the costs myself out of pocket, unless there are any leftover Kickstarter funds and/or the Kickstarter raises more than expected.

Risks and challenges
As with every game on Kickstarter, one concern is timing and delays. I've set the expected delivery date of the rewards quite generously, with a fair amount of buffer time included, so I'm pretty confident that we'll be able to deliver the rewards on time. I've also worked on previous otome games, so I should have a certain degree of experience that will help me overcome any potential roadblocks during the development.
That said, one can never say never, and who knows if unexpected events and disasters might happen. However, even if delays do occur, I'm committed to being transparent about the development progress. You can expect monthly updates on Kickstarter with percentages of work completed for different aspects of the project, as well as smaller, more frequent updates on the Wind Chimes Games social media!
Moreover, I have the time to devote several hours a day to game development, and with how much money I've already spent on the project, there's almost no risk of the project being dropped due to loss of interest or distractions. I'm committed to see this project through to the end!
Another concern is with funding. If the project is not fully funded on Kickstarter, the game will probably still be made — but sacrifices will have to be made in terms of speed and possibly quantity of assets, as I will have to take up more freelancing jobs on the side to pay for the remaining assets of the game.
As for managing finances — I'm confident that I haven't underestimated the costs and expenses required to finish Reanimation Scheme. The fact that I've stuck with only digital rewards for the Kickstarter campaign also helps, as there won't be a huge chunk of unexpected shipping or merchandise production costs.
Regardless, even if the project ends up going over-budget, I'll be able to cover the remaining expenses out of pocket. So, again, there's almost no risk of the project being dropped due to running out of money. Reanimation Scheme will happen, one way or another!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
