Another Turn Around The Sun...PROGRESS REPORT

It has been a full two years since our kickstarter was funded by the generosity and faith of all of you incredible people.

When we began this project, we thought a remodel of the existing structure on the back of our property could get us to where we wanted to be.  BOY WERE WE WRONG!  That structure was well past its ability to be rehab-ed into what we were looking for.  Thus began the long and SLOW and LONG and SLOW process of getting a new building designed and permitted.

This past June we finally held in our hands the permits for a new unit on the back of our property.  Because of zoning laws this will not be a commercial kitchen, but we never intended it to be.  This will be a licensed cottage kitchen under the state of California.  Allowing me to host the small classes and produce the limited range of products we had in our original vision for Wind & Rye.  Despite the additional time required to build something from scratch, we were given the opportunity to fully realize the space of our dreams!

As of January 2017 we are at the sheetrock and painting stage of the build. I have ordered a few of my large appliances and have a tentative goal of scheduling classes beginning in March!  But I have learned that setting timelines for this project can be a bit foolhardy.  Something always seems to delay the time frame I have in my head, including our area getting more rain this season than we have in the previous 5 years combined! (But we thank mother nature for the return of the rain!)

Going forward, I would love to hear from any of you that are local enough to attend classes what subjects you are most interested in. Is there something you've been meaning to try or a technique you haven't quite mastered?  Please feel free to share!

I will also be updating the website this month with hopes of launching a small blog.  Make sure to sign up for our newsletter through the site to get updates on that.

Please enjoy these photos of the past year. Thank you again for your continued support and good vibes.  2017 will be an incredible year! We hope to see you all around here soon.

Best,

Laci, Travis, Theo and Pax
