HOORAY! We Did It!
We are so excited to announce that with the help of 190 backers we reached our goal with one week to spare. For any of you who are still considering backing our project, we would still love your support. Any money raised in addition to our initial goal we will put towards the production of a music video to promote the new album.
We now have 5 days left in the campaign, and it would make me so happy to share my new music and the journey to record it with as many of you as possible!
Recording in Nashville with Steve Dawson
For my new album, I’ve been invited to record in Nashville, Tennessee with Juno award-winning musician and producer Steve Dawson. Steve is originally from my hometown of Vancouver, BC, and I have been a big fan of his since his "Zubot and Dawson" days.
Two years ago, I got to work with Steve on my last album “Just Imagine” and the French version, "Imagine." I had such a great experience in Vancouver and am excited to team up with him again with some excellent Canadian and American studio musicians in his new Henhouse Studio in Nashville. Over the past two years, I've been writing the songs for my new album and I can't wait to bring the songs to life in the studio and share them with you.
The new album will be called “WoRdPlAy.” I’ve chosen this title and theme partly because of my obsession with the New York Times crossword, which I do daily! Wordplay is such an integral part of my songwriting process and my sense of humour. My favourite children's authors, such as, Dr. Seuss, Robert Munsch and Roald Dahl, have all been masters of wordplay. My hope is that this album will inspire kids and parents to have fun with language through music.
Within the theme of wordplay, this album will feature songs about outer space, robots, dinosaurs, playgrounds, sharing, dancing, the summertime, statues, spelling and gratitude. There will also be a couple of French songs about recess and things that make you smile.
I strongly believe that music for kids must also be enjoyable to parents. When my girls really get into a CD we listen to it a lot! My pledge to you is that "WoRdPlAy" will be great listening for children, parents, teachers, grandparents both musically and lyrically.
We’ve never tried crowdfunding before, but we feel this next project will be a unique experience that friends, family and fans might want to follow along with and be part of the process. As a backer, you'll receive exclusive behind-the-scenes updates with photos and videos during my recording process. We have about half of the funding for the production budget in place and are hoping we can raise the rest with your support. The deal with Kickstarter is if you don't meet your goal, your project won't be funded.
This is also an opportunity for you to receive an advance copy of the album a full month before the official release. We’re also offering other unique rewards that might interest you so check them out. My music also makes for great gifts for friends and families :)
Thanks in advance for supporting my music!

Will's Jams Season 4
One of our main goals after we've produced this new album is to pitch a fourth season of "Will's Jams" to Kids' CBC. The network has just added an additional airing of Will's Jams due to the positive response from Canadian kids and their families. You can catch the series twice daily at 7:25 AM and 9:25 AM across Canada. Within the overall theme of "WoRdPlAy," the new album will have songs about robots, outer space, dinosaurs, playgrounds, construction vehicles, sharing and spelling. All of these songs will make for more creative and amazing "Will's Jams" videos, produced by Turtlebox Productions. But before we can pitch, we first need to get the album recorded!
All backers of my project, will receive a personalized autographed copy of my new album, plus any of the rewards you've signed up for. I'll also be thanking you through my website blog and want to give you a big air hug in advance for continuing to support me and my music!
Risks and challenges
Over the last decade, we've independently released multiple albums and have gained a lot of experience with production logistics. I've also become a better songwriter and am confident that my new album will be my best yet, with Steve Dawson as my producer and my wife and manager Kim coordinating the logistics behind the scenes. We're well equipped to handle any challenges that may arise with the recording process or production.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
