WILLET//THE RED SEA E.P.//PRODUCED BY: AARON GILLESPIE RELEASE DATE: 4.3.12
Over the past 3 years, I have been writing a collection of songs while on tour in the U.S., living in Haiti during the 2010 earthquake, and visiting communities in Africa. I am coming up on 15 years of writing, recording, and performing music, and I have never worked harder on a collection of songs than I have for Willet's new record.
In early 2011, I began working with my brother Justin (guitarist) on the songs from my home studio in Maryland during some time off the road. He had written over 50 guitar hooks and I had over 25 melodies/lyrics/basic chord structures, so we began to craft his parts with my chords, lyrics and melodies. In July of 2011, we took a break from our 150 city U.S. Tour and rented an old farmhouse on 100 acres of land in Western, PA to arrange the songs as a band for the first time. 4 days in seclusion allowed us to pour our hearts into new Willet songs that are without a doubt our best ever! I believe we have finally captured the passion, emotion, and sound that makes up Willet.
Willet as a band is going on 6 years as an independent band. What this means is that we do not have any funding from a major record label to produce a new record. We are DEPENDENT on YOU, our friends, to make this record a reality. Without YOU, these songs may never be heard.
The process includes studio time, a producer (we will be announcing who this is later in 2011), travel costs, equipment, album artwork, videos, and printing 10,000+ CD's. This will cost approximately $20,000. Because we believe so strongly in this new project, we are contributing all that we can towards the new album ($15,000), and are asking our fans to consider pledging the remaining $5,000.
Our prayer is that Jesus receives all the glory from this project. Thanks for being apart of the journey, for surely, songs aren't only sung by those of us that can make sound...
