Marriage Equality is here!

So unless you were hiding out off the grid somewhere yesterday, you saw it all over the news - the United States Supreme Court voted 5-4 that the 14th Amendment to the Constitution requires that same sex couples must have the right the marry in every state and have their marriages from other states recognized. You can read the entire opinion here if you're interested: http://www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/14pdf/14-556_3204.pdf

I made the trip down to DC to film on the steps of the Supreme Court on this historic day and it was an amazing experience. It was a very grey day but the crowd was so full of energy, and then right at 10:00 am as the decision was coming down, the sun broke through the clouds - you cannot make this kind of stuff up!

Here's a little video I quickly put together from the footage I recorded yesterday:

This is a public video - please feel free to share it with family and friends. The music was sung live by the Washington DC Gay Men's Chorus.

I'm filming one last interview in Charlotte next week, with the lawyers who led the lawsuit that ultimately overturned Amendment One back in October (don't worry, I was in Charlotte for those first same-sex marriage licenses too!).

The journey of this film has obviously taken quite a while longer than I originally anticipated, but I think it will be well worth the wait in the end. I'll be in touch later this summer as I get closer and closer to the final cut.
