Hey Ed, yeah, I won't lie to you, there's been plenty of problems. The kickstarter paid for all the 2d animation, but the main engine is all coded from scratch, nights and weekends by James, Scott and for a few months Paul (while I could afford it). We're doing nights and weekends now without money, and James both had a close family member die and is now expecting his first child (hopefully he won't be unhappy with me for being more open about that). But this game is our dream and there's not any question that it will be completed. Thanks for your initial support and thank you for backing so many projects, not knowing what each one will bring.

    2. Creator Ed on October 9

And to be clear, four years without a runnable partial demo (not an avatar generator) sounds like vaporware to me.

    3. Creator Ed on October 9

Congratulations, Thunderbeam. I've backed 263 projects, and yours is the oldest one that hasn't delivered yet. I hope it isn't vaporware.

    4. Creator Wiley Wiggins on October 8

Thanks Carlos! Right now we are porting the codebase to a more modern framework that will make the PC version easier too, in addition to the Mac. Also we got an AppleTV development kit, and we're experimenting to see if the game will work on that device as well.

    5. Creator Carlos Bergfeld on October 8

Still excited for Thunderbeam, whenever you've finished it! I backed this without even having an iPad, and still don't, so I'm glad you're targeting Mac now as well. I've also gotten years of use and compliments on the great Thunderbeam shirt.

Glad you're taking your time to make the game the best it can be. In the meantime, I've got a daunting backlog of games I purchased on Steam that I haven't played yet. I'm sure others do too.

    6. Creator Wiley Wiggins on September 9

We've registered for an Apple TV dev kit for Thunderbeam, :)

    7. Creator Wiley Wiggins on June 18, 2015

@ Henry Sanchez: Hi Henry. The game is quite large, and the release target is iOS/Mac/PC.

    8. Creator Henry Sanchez on June 18, 2015

FOUR years to make an iPad game and its still not done? you kidding me?

    9. Creator Wiley Wiggins on May 11, 2015

Oh, just a reminder- there's always lots of little updates on our twitter feed:, and we'll continue to do bigger updates here and on our website,

    10. Creator Wiley Wiggins on May 9, 2015

Boy, Kickstarters "comments carved in stone" policy is really annoying when you are typo-prone like me. :)

    11. Creator Wiley Wiggins on May 9, 2015

Still chugging along, David. I'm having the artwork redone for the random cadet generator redone at the moment, because I'd like a lot more variation in the characters it produces. I'll do an update when it's ready.

    12. Creator David Hezlep on May 9, 2015

      Any updates here?

    13. Creator Adam Lichi on February 28, 2015

You mean to say there is no schedule and that you have no target date what so ever? Forgive me if I sound alarmed but when I backed this project it was under the assumption that there was a set goal with some vague idea when it could be completed.

If you wana throw cancer in my face as a means to shut me up- just remember that the reason this project exists is because of all the fine people who thought you could deliver a game and donated out of the goodness of their hearts... And you have the audacity to guilt trip me of all people because I am concerned for the development of this project?

Who do you think you are?

    14. Creator Wiley Wiggins on February 27, 2015

Right now it's targeted for IPads back to the iPad 2, macs and PC's. I think it would work on the six plus, but Apple has made it where you can't target by screen size alone, so there's no way we can put it on the 6 but not earlier devices. I know for a fact it's too hard to play on screens smaller than the six.

    15. Creator Terrance Frost on February 27, 2015

What is the targeted device range at this point? When it was funded it was targeted for IPad only, but with the 6plus I don't use my iPad as much. Will we get a expanded device list when this finally drops?

    16. Creator Wiley Wiggins on February 27, 2015

I don't know Adam. I have limited ability to shout orders at my friends who code on the project for free after they get home from their full time day jobs. I've made a point of not promising release dates, because I have enough experience in software development to know they are usually wrong, even when folks are working full time with resources. Which we are not. Also, our lead developer's mother has just been diagnosed with Cancer.

You should really try taking a nap or something, you might wake up feeling better.

    17. Creator Adam Lichi on February 27, 2015

      I will reiterate-
When can backers expect this free download?

    18. Creator Wiley Wiggins on February 27, 2015

Hi Adam. It'll generate and store cadets in iCloud for use with the game. We have to show use of the title in the app store in order to hang on to our Trademark, and the core game isn't going to be releasable in the window of time we have left. Saints row did a similar thing for IV with their initiation station.

    19. Creator Adam Lichi on February 27, 2015

      a free download?
what exactly will this do other than generate a random cadet?
when can backers expect to see this download?

i fail to see the point of this if the core game still has no release window.

    20. Creator Wiley Wiggins on February 4, 2015

@ Adam Lichi: it's always a toss up when stuff is slow going though. I don't want to show every little thing, I want stuff to be a surprise in the game. We're breaking the random cadet generator off into a free download that will work on most any iOS device, that'll be the bulk of the next update. You'll be able to save characters to use in the game.

    21. Creator Adam Lichi on February 4, 2015

Looking at the rate of updates, there have been only 2 updates per year, lol.

    22. Creator Adam Lichi on February 4, 2015

We are approaching the 5 year anniversary of when Thunderbeam was funded. There has been so little progress made in all those years.

Whole wars were fought and resolved in the amount of time this project has been in development.

    23. Creator Wiley Wiggins on February 3, 2015

Sorry to keep everyone waiting on another update, December was a hard month for the project. Hi Rahjur,

Things are starting to get back to normal now as I've brought on an additional programmer. I'm going to post an update when there's a little more to look at. There's also updates on our twitter ( @karakasagames ) and our website,

    24. Creator Adam Lichi on January 30, 2015

Why does Matt get a refund, and i dont?

    25. Creator Wiley Wiggins on January 8, 2015

Hey Joey. I'm going to post an update within the next month when we've got some new stuff worth showing off. Development has been slow over the holidays.

    26. Creator Joey Smith on December 16, 2014

Wiley - any chance you guys could provide an update about how things are going to assuage some of the concerns? Thanks!

    27. Creator Wiley Wiggins on December 6, 2014

Matt, i've mailed you two shirts now at considerable cost. I'm not sure I can do anything else to appease you other than to assure you we are working as hard as we can. I'm sorry that we haven't shipped on a timeline you find acceptable.

    28. Creator Wiley Wiggins on December 6, 2014

      @Matt Lambie:

Hi Matt, game development can take a long time. I'm happy to issue you a refund, though.

    29. Creator Matt Lambie on November 21, 2014

I have absolutely no faith that this project will ever be completed.

    30. Creator Wiley Wiggins on November 12, 2014

      @Adam Lichi:

Yes, when we have a viable beta version for early testers you will be in the distribution list.

    31. Creator Adam Lichi on November 12, 2014

am i still entitled to my backer rewards?

    32. Creator Adam Lichi on September 20, 2014

this applies to all past launched campaigns too wiley...

id like my 1200 dollars back please.

    33. Creator Adam Lichi on September 17, 2014

      windmills huh?

    34. Creator Adam Lichi on September 6, 2014

then why did you block me?

    35. Creator Wiley Wiggins on September 6, 2014

Then please leave. Any airs you are putting on about having some kind of rational debate about this are completely disingenous. Also, don't air quote things I didn't say. I told you I hoped you weren't a part of what was happening.

    36. Creator Adam Lichi on September 6, 2014

who am i kidding? this place is dead. nobody cares about TB, wiley.

    37. Creator Adam Lichi on September 6, 2014

you couldnt act like a human being in private. i much prefer speaking to you in front of all your backers where you are obligated to behave and talk to me like an adult.

    38. Creator Wiley Wiggins on September 6, 2014

I'll ask you again, I need you to take this to a platform other than the comments for my game project. This is not the place.

    39. Creator Adam Lichi on September 6, 2014

using feminism as a shield is vile and puts real feminism to shame. you dont know a thing about what is going on.

    40. Creator Adam Lichi on September 6, 2014

      for the 1000000000000000000000000 time.
this isnt about feminism. it is about cronyism, integrity and accountability.

    41. Creator Wiley Wiggins on September 6, 2014

This is the absolute worst time of year for me to be distracted with this shit. We are delivering a TB demo today and Fantastic Arcade is days away.

    42. Creator Wiley Wiggins on September 6, 2014

If you actually want to talk about real issues I suggest you take it to #GamerEthics. If you really feel like feminists are coming to take your videogames away, we are not speaking the same language, and I am losing precious blood trying to reason with you.

    43. Creator Wiley Wiggins on September 6, 2014

Adam, I've been watching my friends get torn apart and you told me they should stop being professional victims. I appreciate you have legit concerns about other stuff, but you hitched your wagon to a hate campaign wether you realize it or not. I can't continue to do good work and have that parked on my lawn.

    44. Creator Adam Lichi on September 6, 2014

if you wana talk about this- you know where to find me.

    45. Creator Adam Lichi on September 6, 2014

you accused me of things i had nothing to do with. you had no right.

    46. Creator Adam Lichi on September 6, 2014

you lie and make broad assumptions about me.

i simply expressed concern over the current events of the past weeks. your reaction to me is telling. you have no confidence when i questioned you and now that the grown-ups have stepped in- the indie scene is being exposed for the lack of substance it has. the reason why you childishly blocked me and asked if i was "behind gamergate" (lol) is because you know i can help you destroy yourself.

its your word where my money went. i have no guarantees that anything you said is true as the community you have been so in trenched with has proven to have no credibility, no integrity and has a duplicitous agenda.

i gave you money because i believed in you- and the moment i question you, you of all of people treat me like a criminal?

    47. Creator Wiley Wiggins on September 6, 2014

On that unpleasant note, I'm happy to say we have another update to share with the rest of you tomorrow, including new areas, character, and game mechanics. Thank you again for your patience and support.
