You mean to say there is no schedule and that you have no target date what so ever? Forgive me if I sound alarmed but when I backed this project it was under the assumption that there was a set goal with some vague idea when it could be completed.

If you wana throw cancer in my face as a means to shut me up- just remember that the reason this project exists is because of all the fine people who thought you could deliver a game and donated out of the goodness of their hearts... And you have the audacity to guilt trip me of all people because I am concerned for the development of this project?

Who do you think you are?

    2. Creator Wiley Wiggins 4 days ago

Right now it's targeted for IPads back to the iPad 2, macs and PC's. I think it would work on the six plus, but Apple has made it where you can't target by screen size alone, so there's no way we can put it on the 6 but not earlier devices. I know for a fact it's too hard to play on screens smaller than the six.

    3. Creator Terrance Frost 4 days ago

What is the targeted device range at this point? When it was funded it was targeted for IPad only, but with the 6plus I don't use my iPad as much. Will we get a expanded device list when this finally drops?

    4. Creator Wiley Wiggins 4 days ago

I don't know Adam. I have limited ability to shout orders at my friends who code on the project for free after they get home from their full time day jobs. I've made a point of not promising release dates, because I have enough experience in software development to know they are usually wrong, even when folks are working full time with resources. Which we are not. Also, our lead developer's mother has just been diagnosed with Cancer.

You should really try taking a nap or something, you might wake up feeling better.

      I will reiterate-
When can backers expect this free download?

    6. Creator Wiley Wiggins 4 days ago

Hi Adam. It'll generate and store cadets in iCloud for use with the game. We have to show use of the title in the app store in order to hang on to our Trademark, and the core game isn't going to be releasable in the window of time we have left. Saints row did a similar thing for IV with their initiation station.

    7. Creator Adam Lichi 4 days ago

      a free download?
what exactly will this do other than generate a random cadet?
when can backers expect to see this download?

i fail to see the point of this if the core game still has no release window.

    8. Creator Wiley Wiggins on February 4

@ Adam Lichi: it's always a toss up when stuff is slow going though. I don't want to show every little thing, I want stuff to be a surprise in the game. We're breaking the random cadet generator off into a free download that will work on most any iOS device, that'll be the bulk of the next update. You'll be able to save characters to use in the game.

    9. Creator Adam Lichi on February 4

Looking at the rate of updates, there have been only 2 updates per year, lol.

    10. Creator Adam Lichi on February 4

We are approaching the 5 year anniversary of when Thunderbeam was funded. There has been so little progress made in all those years.

Whole wars were fought and resolved in the amount of time this project has been in development.

    11. Creator Wiley Wiggins on February 3

Sorry to keep everyone waiting on another update, December was a hard month for the project. Hi Rahjur,

Things are starting to get back to normal now as I've brought on an additional programmer. I'm going to post an update when there's a little more to look at. There's also updates on our twitter ( @karakasagames ) and our website, karakasagames.com.

    12. Creator Adam Lichi on January 30

Why does Matt get a refund, and i dont?

    13. Creator Wiley Wiggins on January 8

Hey Joey. I'm going to post an update within the next month when we've got some new stuff worth showing off. Development has been slow over the holidays.

    14. Creator Joey Smith on December 16

Wiley - any chance you guys could provide an update about how things are going to assuage some of the concerns? Thanks!

    15. Creator Wiley Wiggins on December 6

Matt, i've mailed you two shirts now at considerable cost. I'm not sure I can do anything else to appease you other than to assure you we are working as hard as we can. I'm sorry that we haven't shipped on a timeline you find acceptable.

    16. Creator Wiley Wiggins on December 6

      @Matt Lambie:

Hi Matt, game development can take a long time. I'm happy to issue you a refund, though.

    17. Creator Matt Lambie on November 21

I have absolutely no faith that this project will ever be completed.

    18. Creator Wiley Wiggins on November 12

      @Adam Lichi:

Yes, when we have a viable beta version for early testers you will be in the distribution list.

    19. Creator Adam Lichi on November 12

am i still entitled to my backer rewards?

then why did you block me?

    23. Creator Wiley Wiggins on September 6

Then please leave. Any airs you are putting on about having some kind of rational debate about this are completely disingenous. Also, don't air quote things I didn't say. I told you I hoped you weren't a part of what was happening.

    24. Creator Adam Lichi on September 6

who am i kidding? this place is dead. nobody cares about TB, wiley.

    25. Creator Adam Lichi on September 6

you couldnt act like a human being in private. i much prefer speaking to you in front of all your backers where you are obligated to behave and talk to me like an adult.

    26. Creator Wiley Wiggins on September 6

I'll ask you again, I need you to take this to a platform other than the comments for my game project. This is not the place.

    27. Creator Adam Lichi on September 6

using feminism as a shield is vile and puts real feminism to shame. you dont know a thing about what is going on.

    28. Creator Adam Lichi on September 6

      for the 1000000000000000000000000 time.
this isnt about feminism. it is about cronyism, integrity and accountability.

    29. Creator Wiley Wiggins on September 6

This is the absolute worst time of year for me to be distracted with this shit. We are delivering a TB demo today and Fantastic Arcade is days away.

    30. Creator Wiley Wiggins on September 6

If you actually want to talk about real issues I suggest you take it to #GamerEthics. If you really feel like feminists are coming to take your videogames away, we are not speaking the same language, and I am losing precious blood trying to reason with you.

    31. Creator Wiley Wiggins on September 6

Adam, I've been watching my friends get torn apart and you told me they should stop being professional victims. I appreciate you have legit concerns about other stuff, but you hitched your wagon to a hate campaign wether you realize it or not. I can't continue to do good work and have that parked on my lawn.

    32. Creator Adam Lichi on September 6

if you wana talk about this- you know where to find me.

    33. Creator Adam Lichi on September 6

you accused me of things i had nothing to do with. you had no right.

    34. Creator Adam Lichi on September 6

you lie and make broad assumptions about me.

i simply expressed concern over the current events of the past weeks. your reaction to me is telling. you have no confidence when i questioned you and now that the grown-ups have stepped in- the indie scene is being exposed for the lack of substance it has. the reason why you childishly blocked me and asked if i was "behind gamergate" (lol) is because you know i can help you destroy yourself.

its your word where my money went. i have no guarantees that anything you said is true as the community you have been so in trenched with has proven to have no credibility, no integrity and has a duplicitous agenda.

i gave you money because i believed in you- and the moment i question you, you of all of people treat me like a criminal?

    35. Creator Wiley Wiggins on September 6

On that unpleasant note, I'm happy to say we have another update to share with the rest of you tomorrow, including new areas, character, and game mechanics. Thank you again for your patience and support.

    36. Creator Wiley Wiggins on September 6

Hi Adam, your donation was used to pay an animator for sprite artwork.
At this point total budget for the game has been 60k, and a little less than 40 of that has come from my retirement savings and my dayjob.
Your donation, while generous, does not give you the right to turn our game into a platform to vent your spleen. The attacks that 4chan have been orchestrating have hurt and harassed a lot of innocent and hard working people, and it's torn at the already tenuous fabric of the indie community that allows artists to make games and writers to write about games.

    37. Creator Adam Lichi on September 6

the lesson is that people should give money to people because of their ability to deliver, not because of their stardom. all these people that have clout, it's because of their notoriety and not because of their substance. my money went towards cool parties that continue to strengthen his notoriety.

    38. Creator Adam Lichi on September 6

Wiley, your detestable attitude towards me has been noted. i am one of your largest backers and you insult me and disrespect me. the most valuable lesson i got from watching you struggle to make thunder beam was how naive i was to believe that you could pull it off. its been how many years so far?
godforbid you have an opinion different than Wiley Wiggins, otherwise he will dismiss you and treat you like a child. you need to grow up, wiley. people arent required to kiss your ass all the time.

    39. Creator Wiley Wiggins on August 21, 2014

Apologies for another silent stretch. We are both crunching on the game and preparing for another Fantastic Arcade. Expect a significant update on September 1st.

    40. Creator Wiley Wiggins on May 7, 2014

Looks like the two folks with missing prizes were in South Africa and Australia, respectively. Expediting them goodies tomorrow. Man, if I ever do this again (hopefully I won't need to next time) I'm using a fulfillment service.

    41. Creator Wiley Wiggins on May 7, 2014

John- that lean on Octoproj for goodies turned into something bigger and currently a secret that you will get a little before the game is done. It'll be worth it :)

    42. Creator John Green on May 7, 2014

I think the only physical thing I haven't received is the "We'll lean on The Octopus Project for a random assortment of their merch as well" part. All the other physical rewards l received.

    43. Creator Wiley Wiggins on May 6, 2014

I'm really disturbed that two people have piped up this week to say that they didn't get their backer rewards! Please- everything was mailed out YEARS ago. If you didn't receive a reward, I have no way of knowing unless you tell me, and I will do everything I can to correct it right away!

    44. Creator Wiley Wiggins on May 3, 2014

Here's a peek at activity on the main branch of the codebase. http://cl.ly/VK6J
This has been the most productive four months in the history of the project.
I keep stalling on doing a kickstarter update because I am waiting for some AI logic code to get merged in that would let me dump a bunch of NPC's in a room so you can check out some characters. If everything goes smoothly on Sunday when we get together, this will be ready to go.

    45. Creator Wiley Wiggins on May 2, 2014

Hi Ossi, no the project is not dead, & development is going strong!

    46. Creator Ossi Honkanen on April 29, 2014

      Is this project officially dead?

    47. Creator Joey Smith on March 17, 2014

"This weekend" (from March 5th) has come and gone, and still no update. Just sayin'.

    48. Creator Wiley Wiggins on March 5, 2014

Definitely update time. I've been dragging my feet waiting until Scott gets all these crazy new npc's in a room though... I'm setting a deadline till this weekend, and then we'll show y'all some new THUNDERBEAM MADNESS.
