Thank you to all the wonderful backers for supporting this project we are now fullying funded. Please visit the Wild Woodlands website at www.wildwoodlands.com.au to follow the project and future product releases.
I am excited to offer Felix and the quest for the lost jewels; this is the first children’s picture book I have designed. I would love to self-publish the book and need your help to get it into the world. My goal is to produce Wild Woodlands as a children’s book series along with brand merchandise, plush and plastic toys, games, clothing and more.
The storyline of this book is about Felix’s journey with his Wild Woodland friends to locate lost jewels, which light up their camp sign to help any other creatures find them. The book not only features a story and seek-and-find items but also features sight and high-frequency words to assist your little one with early learning.
The book includes an area for your little one to draw and place cutouts/stickers to create their own woodlands scene. Along with pasting a photo of themselves to decorate as their own Wild Woodlands character profile. A wonderful birthday, baby shower, special event or festive gift for a little loved one in your life. The book also features an area to write a special message as a keepsake within your gift.
The inspiration to develop the Wild Woodlands brand came from interacting and teaching my son, Bailey. He is constantly fascinated with animals, magic, finder books and reading. I wanted to create something that encompassed them all, assisting in developing his love of learning to read, while being entertained and excited about new characters and their diverse personalities.
This campaign will run throughout January 2019 as part of the ‘Make 100 Campaign’. Your funding will help with various publishing expenses including final editing expenses, Kickstarter fees, printing and promotion. The below Kickstarter campaign rewards are currently only available in Australia. However, with your help, the book will then be available through a Global print on demand service, allowing online sales through Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Book Depository, Thriftbooks, Booktopia and more. The graph featured below outlines a breakdown of expenses involved in reaching the goal of this project:
Most of the reward funds will go towards to the printer and marketing the brand. The selected printer produces high quality hard and soft cover books along with a global print on demand service. The next step in the project will be to work with a professional children’s book editor. This will ensure the final product is error free and accomplishes the desired educational aspect through the correct selection of age-appropriate sight and high-frequency words.
Along with helping to cover these costs, hopefully, you will also enjoy the rewards on offer with your little loved ones.
Most of the work has already been completed to bring this book to life. I have written and illustrated the book and produced a prototype of the softcover and hardcover versions. The hardcover and softcover book will be printed with a gloss cover. Both book sizes are 11 x 8.5” (28 x 21.6cm) with the internal pages printed in premium colour with a matte finish on 70LB white paper.
Your funding will help with polishing and refining the book through hiring a professional children’s book copy editor. Featured below are a few sneak peeks of how the book is looking so far…
Please note the promotional video is for advertising purposes only. The pages featured in the video are not the internal pages of ‘Felix and the quest for the lost jewels’, and the actual book is not a popup (although this would be great in the future). The video has been created to build brand awareness and introduce the Wild Woodland characters along with the book’s storyline, finder items and educational features.

Hello, I’m Lindsey! A mother, organisational geek and children's product designer by night and a project and marketing manager by day ;)
I live near Byron Bay in Australia with my husband and two children. Well, one is arriving shortly, forget spicy foods, the stress of a Kickstarter campaign may actually help with moving things along hahaha.
I am an SCU business management graduate with post-graduate qualifications in project management from RMIT University. With over 15 years of experience working in business management, marketing, design and projects, I am loving my current venture of launching my own children's book series and merchandise range.
A massive thank you for supporting this project. Without backers, I would not have the ability to produce a high quality, error free children’s book focusing on supporting early reading development.

Risks and challenges
There are only minor risks or challenges foreseen in completing this project. This is the result of partnering with a reliable and respected printer along with the book nearing completion with only professional editing remaining.
However, this is my first Kickstarter campaign and I’m learning as I go. I have spent months researching the process, reward options and soliciting advice but there will always be an aspect of the unknown. The timeline was produced based on printing lead times for production and shipping, along with added contingencies particularly supporting postal times. This also includes any delays in reward merchandise being produced and shipped. As unforeseen delays occur often in printing, I will stay in close communication with my suppliers to ensure the project timeline remains on track, particularly if I need to produce a higher demand than expected. If any delays do arise, I will communicate these with backers asap.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
