Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between "Frozen Hell" and the story as originally published, "Who Goes There?"
The big difference is additional material. The manuscript for "Frozen Hell" is 45 pages longer (!) than the manuscript for "Who Goes There?" -- and most of the new material is set before the opening chapter of "Who Goes There?" It fleshes out the backstory. There are also a few plot differences.Last updated:

This seems to be a Kickstarter bug. We have reported it. Please go ahead with your support—the shipping charge shows up as $0 in the confirmation. (We promise you won't be charged for shipping on ebooks!)Last updated:
All of the ebooks are all available in multiple formats: epub, Kindle (.mobi), and .pdf. You won't have any trouble finding a device that supports at least one of these formats.Last updated:
The manuscript was discovered in Campbell's papers by scholar Alec Nevala-Lee while researching he was doing research for his upcoming book, Astounding: John W. Campbell, Isaac Asimov, Robert A. Heinlein, L. Ron Hubbard, and the Golden Age of Science Fiction (HarperCollins, available Oct. 23, 2018). Alec alerted the us to this exciting find, which led to this Kickstarter. See the new $20,000 stretch goal (when posted) for more information.
We are thrilled to be adding a new Preface by Alec Nevala-Lee. I'm sure he will have a lot more info about finding the manuscript.Last updated:
We were planning to print a thousand copies, but it looks like that won't be nearly enough for all the backers! The actual print run will have to be set after the Kickstarter is completed. I anticipate printing several hundred copies over the actual number required. I know, from many years' experience in publishing, that there are always a few lost or damaged copies, contributors who need extras, review copies, etc. etc. etc. If we print exactly the quantity needed, we definitely won't have enough.Last updated:
I haven't selected a shipping company yet, (we won't need it for 3 months) but I will make sure we have shipping that properly protects every item.
I'm a book collector myself (Wildside Press started out producing signed, limited edition hardcovers with exotic bindings like Spanish cork) so we always take great care when we send out special edition books. That can include bubble wrap, oversized boxed with packing peanuts (so corners can't be bumped in transit), and similar protective measures.
One of our earliest books had a hand-made mahogany slipcase, and not a single slipcase was damaged in shipping.Last updated:
Easy! Just add the extra funds for the additional item(s) to your current pledge. (Don't forget to add postage!)
How it works: We have signed up for BackerKit, which will send you a survey at the end of the campaign. BackerKit allows you to allocate your pledged money toward specific items.
For instance. if you already support us at the $7.00 ebook bundle level and want to add the audiobook, add $20 to your pledge ($27.00 total). After the auction, you will be able to specify that the $20 goes to the audiobook and $7 goes to the Masters of Science Fiction ebook bundle.Last updated:

Yes! Any book pledge includes all of the ebooks from the 7 pledge level. It's a really amazing value—no less than 14 ebooks:
1. FROZEN HELL (the new book)
2. WHO GOES THERE? (the original, short version)
3. SHORT THINGS (the anthology)
4. The John W. Campbell, Jr. MEGAPACK (which collects many of JWC's classic stories)
5. 10 more entries in our MEGAPACK series. (Which ones? We know some of our readers already own our MEGAPACKs, so we will put together several different packages to choose from. )Last updated:
