What is it?
The SteadyWheel is a portable camera stabilizer designed to reduce shake and improve stability. The rig works great with Smartphones, POV, Point and Shoot, and many other small frame cameras. While improving stability, the SteadyWheel also provides a great handle, giving the shooter much better frame control and opening up shot opportunities. It's compact design and lightweight chassis make it convenient to take anywhere the action is. Backpackable and Made in the USA.
Who would use it?
This rocking film making tool will open up shot opportunities for weekend warrior filmmakers, action sport thrill seekers, as well as Moms and Dads capturing family fun. Really, anyone who loves to be out filming.
Where can I use it?
Practically anywhere. The SteadyWheel is made out of a durable ABS Industrial Plastic and 316 Stainless Steel, so it can withstand the harshest of elements. In white-out snow, driving rain, and blazing sun, the SteadyWheel will not let you down.
Is the SteadyWheel tough?
To help prevent theft, we usually park on it for the night.

A Crystal Castle:
This reward is actually an acrylic liquid clear plastic; awesome 3D handmade acrylic sculpture. In an effort to help our project along, one of our very skilled craftsmen has donated enough time to make 100 of these wickedly cool 3D sculptures. These little beauties are totally handmade. He makes them in our shop with dremels, hand picks, a big magnifying glass and a crazy imagination. No kidding, this is a great conversation piece. The detail is so intricate that we suggest a magnifying glass to study the finer details (magnifying glass included). Total Size = 2inch cubed. (approximately)

Behind the scenes - why we need your support:
We will be using the funds from all reward levels to cover the massive one-time tooling costs for this project. The one-time tooling cost for injection molding our ABS chassis is significant. However, this manufacturing solution is the main reason the SteadyWheel can be produced in the USA while retailing for less than $100.00. Injection molding from ABS provided many solutions to challenges we had during the design and testing phase of this project.
Risks and challenges
Any time you have something made "out of house" or "outsourced" the risk of difficulties increases. To help reduce risks we asked experienced US based companies for project proposals. We have received several proposals for the tooling and the first 250 pcs of the Steady wheel's ABS frame. All project proposals were competitive in regards to time, costs, and delivery. We have also received project proposals for CNC machining of our 316 weighted slugs. The weighted slugs are a rather simple component and there are many US based facilities capable of producing them in a timely manner with high quality results.
Packaging is an entire engineering discipline unto itself. In order to save costs and reduce our overall carbon footprint for this project, we have decided the SteadyWheel will only be packaged in its shipping box, which is used for delivery.
The SteadyWheel is extremely simple to use and in basic terms - proper use is self-explanatory. However, one can always benefit from some basic guidelines and tips. Our intention is to have a skilled artist sit down with the WildIron crew and create an Infographic. The completed Infographic will be posted on our website for downloading. Additionally, WildIron will create an instructional video that will be available on our website and YouTube.
The SteadyWheel will be assembled in our facility in Hackensack, NJ. Parts will arrive from 2 different vendors. One vendor shall provide the chassis and the other shall provide the 316 Stainless plugs and 1/4-20 thumbscrew. The weighted inserts will be pressed into the main chassis and the thumbscrew assembly will be locked into place. Assembly, quality control, and packaging takes about 20 minutes per unit
