We are sitting here at Kelsey's house reflecting on the past two weeks in the studio. It has been AMAZING! Every morning we make a 25 minute drive out to Austin Signal studios at 10 A.M. John, the studio owner, makes sure that there is a big fresh pot of Illy coffee waiting for us. Apparently that is his favorite kind of coffee (there is about 50 empty cans of it lining the upper kitchen counter). Steve Mazur, our sound engineer, usually gets there early and goes back through what we did the previous day. We spent the first couple of days with just Kelsey and I live tracking all of the songs. We tried recording them a couple different ways but the magic was lost if we did it any other way besides uke and vocals together. To make us feel more comfortable, we track mostly in our Tiger and Bunny Onezies (see photo). We are extremely happy with the way everything is sounding. Ben Kweller has been great to work with! He is very encouraging and has many a great idea. He believes in the project and has been a wonderful addition to the crew. We have all the drums and keys tracking and are going to start on bass and cello tomorrow. Typically we spend 14 hours a day in the studio. Their is a lot of downtime that we fill with razor scootering and old school flash games. By the end of this week we should have most of the album tracked! Our plan is to have a single out for sxsw2013. We will keep you posted on any developments. We just finished the kickstarter shirt design and will be getting those out soon. (see picture). Thank you so much for your participation to "The Runaround".
