GARBLED TRANSMISSION #3
First off, it was officially announced in San Diego that Wild Blue Yonder, on completion of funding (lots of fingers crossed), will be published by IDW. Here's the announcement with all of the exciting particulars!
Official Press Release
IDW Publishing is proud to announce a brand-new creator-owned miniseries from creators Mike Raicht, Zach Howard, and Austin Harrison featuring color by Nelson Daniel! When land and sea have become deadly and uninhabitable, the intrepid survivors of ecological disaster must take to the skies; to the WILD BLUE YONDER!
“I couldn’t be happier to continue my long partnership with Zach Howard,” said Chris Ryall, IDW’s Chief Creative Officer. “He illustrated the first comic I ever wrote, and has been producing some stunning work for IDW ever since. Add to that Mike Raicht’s clever scripting and the amazing colors of Nelson Daniel and WILD BLUE YONDER becomes much more than just an innovative concept.”
In a wildly imaginative take on the post-apocalyptic thriller, Raicht, Howard and Harrison have created an eye-popping world of flying machines, massive, makeshift fortresses and a desperate war among the dwindling population left to the scarce resources on land. As mankind has become accustomed to the reality of a prosperous life only existing in sky bound territory, a desperate war has broken out for control and survival on the ground and high above it.
“We've been striving to put Wild Blue Yonder together for a long time,” said Raicht. “It is so amazing that it is finally coming together. To be able to publish it at IDW, the same place that has produced some of my favorite creator owned properties, like 30 Days of Night, The Cape, and Locke and Key, is cooler than I can ever truly express.”
“I honestly couldn’t be happier. It’s very gratifying to be drawing my own books full-time while publishing them through my favorite company. Good times!” added Howard.
Clashing factions fight tooth and nail with primitive weapons in a thrilling, high-stakes world of tightly-knit families and deeply realized characters, all cobbling together a life in a world beyond imagination.
“We’re excited for people to see the story unfold in the series,” said Harrison. “Everyone at IDW has been great and supportive. We’re thrilled to be working with such a great company.”
We are so unbelievably excited to partner with IDW on this. As we move farther along in the Kickstarter process we'll start to introduce the rest of the team that we are putting together with IDW. It is out of sight.
Secondly, we've added two brand new rewards. A lot of you have been asking about ways to get the complete series, so we've added two new options to our site. You can receive the entire series digitally or you can receive it, signed, by mail. The one thing to realize about this reward is that we will send you all five issues at once. That means you'll have to wait until the series concludes (late 2013) to get your prize. Digitally, we will send the book out a week before for the first issue, but for the rest of the issues, they will be sent the week the issue hits the shops.
And remember, you can change and update your rewards at any time. So if you have bid already and think you might want to upgrade to the entire series, you have the option to do so. If you rescan the rewards there may be something new. They will be updated from time to time and some have a limited number. Trust us, we have it on good authority that some cool things are on the horizon.
We'd also like to introduce you to a member of the Dawn's crew. His name is Tug and he's a Gun. Designed by Zach, he's wearing the latest in post-apocalyptic gear. Now, let's just hope he survives past the first double page spread.
Since we've already gone on a touch long so we'll skip our Wild Blue Yonder fact this time and stick with a simple Zach Howard, San Diego Comic Con, man fact.
Zach Howard fact - Zach likes beer flavored beer.
Just an interesting tidbit about our resident artist. Nothing else really needs to be said, except to keep on spreading the word on twitter, facebook, and wherever else you think might be appropriate. Thanks to you all we're already close to 100 backers. If you have any thoughts or questions send them our way. We'll get right back to you.
