Whytes 'Deep Dive' Automatic Diver Watches
Brought to you by Canadian company Whytes Watches Ltd. Designed with classic dive watches in mind, inspired by historical submarines which silently patrolled the deep oceans. Built to withstand the rigours of modern life. Professional standard, sublime quality.
Tough enough for extreme diving, elegant enough for all occasions, these three watches - The Tautog, The Plongeur and The Oberon are equipped with automatic movements which never run out of steam. With faces reflecting the colours of the deep sea, high visibility in murky underwater conditions, and the ability to withstand an unbelievable 1000m (100ATM) water pressure makes these watches a professional diver's dream. Each have a helium escape valve operating automatically at the lowest depths.
Seen and reviewed
We are getting a lot of interest from the press, we have already attracted interest from a wealth of online sites and radio stations.
For those who do not dive comes the assurance that whatever the weather and whatever the circumstances, the watch will never ever let you down. Superlative build quality and immeasurable strength means that you will undoubtedly expire long before these watches ever will.
We are a Canadian watch company now based in the Cowichan Valley of Vancouver Island. Surrounded by the natural beauty of British Columbia, we design and produce fine watches inspired by the past but built for the future, combining Canadian and British culture and heritage. One of very few Canadian watchmakers in existence, our aim is to bring the whole process of watchmaking to Canada, providing employment and economic stability. We have been very successful in three previous kickstarter campaigns and are now delighted to launch the DEEP DIVE Collection of three watches inspired by the sea and named after submarines which have long travelled silently beneath the deep oceans.
The Deep Dive Collection Comprises:-
The Tautog Automatic Watch
Deep emerald green face and black outer dial. The Tautog SS-199 was a USS Tambor Class veteran submarine, and one of the most successful submarines of WW2 and operated for over 20 years.
The Plongeur Automatic Watch
Dark azure face and black outer dial. The Plongeur is a historical French submarine launched in 1863, being the first in the world propelled by mechanical power rather than human propulsion
The Oberon Automatic Watch
Dense inky black face and black outer dial. The Oberon was a class of submarine built by British shipyards and operated by Canadian, British, Australian, Brazilian and Chilean Navies for many years. Used extensively for operations at the height of the Cold War.
A choice of two movements
Choose from the ever reliable and robust Japanese Miyota 9015 for the standard price or the quintessential and classic Swiss Sellita SW200. Two great reliable and hardworking movements, but if you want Swiss, you can have Swiss for $75 CAD extra.
The Helium Escape Valve
Functional, useful and seriously cool. Small helium atoms can penetrate a watch case when underwater for extended periods of time and this trapped helium when de-pressurising can cause the crystal to break thus damaging the watch.
The helium escape valve, now a feature in exceptional professional dive watches is a valuable addition as it opens during decompression to allow the helium build up in the watch to escape thus maintaining the integrity of the watch. Our 'Deep Dive' watches are equipped with an automatic, one way spring loaded escape valve which releases the helium from the watch and lowers the pressure.
You need do nothing except push back the valve crown back into the watch after diving if the valve has been activated during the dive.
Water resistant to 100ATM/1000m/3300ft
Our Deep Dive watches can withstand extreme diving conditions. So deep sea diving, snorkelling, scuba diving, surfing or any sport involving water poses no problems for your watch.

Risks and challenges
Our risks and challenges are the same as others with product-based Kickstarter campaigns – typically this is production delays. With our 3 previous watches on kickstarter we successfully delivered early and with the selection of our suppliers complete and test dates trialled and achieved we do not anticipate delays beyond our timeline; however, there are no guarantees in life and so it is possible that something unanticipated could occur during production.
We have an established and continuously growing and improving relationship with our manufacturer and are confident in our capacity to produce high quality products to deadline.
If something were to happen, rest assured that we would keep our Kickstarter community fully appraised of the situation.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
