About

The development team here at VMach Media have been watching real world Whoovers become a bit of a craze during 2018 and couldn't resists the temptation to apply our simulation tech to  a Whoover based esports game.

Whoovers are mini RC hovercraft that you can drift around tracks on your kitchen floor, halls or pretty much any smooth surface. Part of what makes them such fun to drive is their ability to drift around corners, something we needed to get just right in the game dynamic.

A small skunk woks project has already achieved a proof of concept (check out the video) and with your support we'd love to go ahead and build the game play and additional tracks around it. The main racing theme of the first release will be drifter racing with the possible later addition of 'Whoover Ball' (air hockey for hovercraft) and 'Laser Tag'.

We already have the successful 'Rotor Rush' drone racing simulator released On PC & MAC and will be using the same framework to deliver the 'Whoovers' game for solo and multiplayer racing. The majority of the kickstarter funding will go towards the creation of exciting new tracks with futuristic lighting, the remainder will support Whoover specific UI elements .

To support and build the Whoover community the released game will have it's own website complete with international leaderboards and esport competitions.

Risks and challenges

We're pretty happy this is a low risk project for us as the game development will use our existing simulation software framework and physics. The demo video shows a simple adaption of the done physics we made to give a good feel to the Whoover handling that's already fun to drive. There's a bit more to do but the task is well understood. The work load and where most of the funds for this project will go is towards the creation of some great looking tracks plus some new Whoover models.

The August delivery will definitely see the game released, the level of funds raised will be reflected in the number of tracks and models that go into the first release. It would be great to have sufficient funds to see the development through to the end of the year and beyond. Games sales will also help.
