Join us as we aim to support couples globally as they venture into the extraordinary journey of marriage together; the millions who are determined to do it right.
White is an independent wedding and relationship publication, which started nine years ago in Newcastle, near Sydney on the East Coast of Australia. We are a small, but incredibly committed and passionate team who have perfected the art of being able to produce and deliver a lovingly designed, meaningful print publication, as well as an inspirational blog and comprehensive wedding directory.
We saw the need to bring something deeply meaningful and positive into the wedding space. As we observed all the beautiful and the difficult things in the marriages and relationships around us, we wanted to create something that would help bring it all back to the heart and the lasting commitment made on the wedding day, rather than all the "shimmer and shine". Don’t get us wrong, we love beautiful weddings and the way they express a couple’s identity; we love the fun and the romance and the extravagance, but not to the extent that the details overwhelm the purpose: the commitment.
Over the years we’ve seen white grow from a regional publication, to a magazine that is sold and relished across Australia. You can find us in newsagents, specialty stores, online and in supermarkets for specific pockets throughout the year.
Now, more than ever before, it is our ambition to inspire, encourage and challenge couples to build a marriage as beautiful as their wedding day. With such a universal message to share, we’re ready to bring white to a global audience.
So what are we asking for?
Help us bring white to the world. Supplying a print publication to a global market comes at a much higher cost than our current, primarily Australasian distribution. We’re always so humbled by the organic support we receive internationally, along with the high number of requests to supply the magazine to areas of the world where we aren’t currently stocked, and would love more than anything to be able to reach these markets. Your support here would help us to find new distributors and/or channels of distribution all over the world!
Support to create a global product. With more global distribution, comes the need to create a more globally relevant product. To achieve this, we are aiming to reduce our reliance on paid advertising spaces as a primary source of income, to allow more time and space to take white to the next level, bringing our readers more inspirational content and even more compelling editorial. Your support here would help us to cover the costs of production and printing, so we can focus on driving our message.
Who is white for and who should support us.
So whether you’re:
- Madly in love
- Planning the wedding (and marriage of your dreams)
- Part of a couple’s support team
- Want to support a friend or family getting married
- Working in the wedding industry
- Looking for a sweet little piece of inspiration for your relationship
… or simply enjoy the inspiring stories and beautiful photography, then white is crafted with you in mind.
We also welcome industry folk who would love to give the magazine as a gift to their clients as well as specialty stores, bookshops or newsstands who would like to stock the magazine.
"I love the rebellious spirit of white, how it challenges and forces us to think deeply about our connection with our spouse. I find that each editorial sheds a new light on relationships, and encourages avenues of communication that are often shied away from. White isn't afraid to delve head-first into the deeper issues, and I appreciate that rawness and honesty. The magazine's authenticity and transparency makes it one that you should definitely get your hands on - such a good read!"
Steve and Sarah Dubbeldam | Darling Magazine
"I see white as a marriage magazine more than a wedding magazine. It recognises the day you say 'I do' as the beginning of an adventure—not the end. It celebrates honesty and truth, vulnerability and the depths of a relationship; it explores the struggles and tests that inevitably come when you promise to spend your life with another person, even—or especially—if you love that person truly and deeply. White is the encouraging friend who will walk that path with you."
Richard Miller | Compassion
white is a curated collection of meaningful and inspiring editorial and imagery from some of the best writers, photographers and creatives from around the world.
This issue we are pushing the boundaries, branching out into the wild unknown territory that comes with marriage. We're joining couples as they stare out into the vast expanse of marriage that lay ahead of them, and equipping them with the knowledge to explore this new terrain as two unified adventurers.

White is about "the day" and all the days after.
This is what makes white so much more than a wedding magazine. It’s a marriage revolution.
Our pages are a mecca for front-line creatives, where romance and artistry collide. Each page has been lovingly designed and artfully printed on beautiful uncoated paper. 150 pages of perfect bound goodness. white is obsessed with honest beauty, and with pure, sweet homages to originality. We don’t follow trends; we dream with you, and inspire you to create a wedding day that celebrates your story with integrity and wonder.
More than that, we are a catalyst for positive change in the culture of marriage and relationships. We believe that every marriage touches the lives of more than just those who make the vows. We believe in love that is sincere and generous, love that holds on. When a wedding launches two adventurous hearts into the wild, unchartered skies of marriage, we go with you. We bring together stories of love and life – personal narratives of laughter, romance, oftentimes tragedy, but always hope. We hold marriage up to the light, and use our pages to venture into honest, clever and meaningful conversations about all the unglamorous parts of marital (mis)adventure. white is your companion in the trenches and triumphs of life as a two-person love-troop.
white celebrates it all with you. We are here to challenge you, to laugh and cry with you, to always point you home. And we’ll be here as you discover that home is a person, not a destination. We’re here to help you create a marriage as beautiful as your wedding day.
Thank you so much for taking the time to learn a bit more about white. We’re a passionate duo who have always believed in the potential of humanity and the value of community. Before white, Carla spent many years as a youth worker at a number of organisations including the Samaritans and Juvenile Justice. By every definition of the word, she’s a true servant heart and her strongest passion lies in helping people. Alongside my brother, I (Luke) run a branding company (mezzanine-media) that holds positive change at its heart. We found that mezzanine-media provided the perfect opportunity and means to turn our joint passions into the pages we now call white.
But if all we did was create beautiful spreads then we wouldn't really be doing our job. In our eyes, if we can help couples to draw closer together, year after year, and if we can give them the tools and inspire them to work hard at their relationships, then we can say we’ve succeeded. Our goal is for couples to experience the daily joy of intimacy and loving commitment.
Thank you to our friends, family, the readers, advertisers and complete strangers who have supported us on the journey so far. Your encouraging letters, emails and support have kept us going. Knowing the positive change we’ve brought to relationships across the globe has been a joy. We feel like we’ve only just begun and invite anyone who has the same passion to join with us. We warmly welcome you to get in touch – we’d love to hear from you.
Luke and Carla Burrell
Risks and challenges
We're very experienced in creating magazines and the business that surrounds it. Our nine years as a publication has seen 30 issues to print on-time and on-budget. There is no risk in seeing it really come to life.
Your support will help us take it further, bigger and better than ever, allowing us to reach places we haven't been able to before and also reduce our reliance on paid advertising.
