About this project
How it all started...
Beer brewing has a long-standing tradition among our presidents. George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, and now Barack Obama, all shared a passion for beer. For the current president, the brewing process in the White House started in January 2011 after he purchased a home brewing kit using personal funds. From what we’ve heard, the results turned out to be quite nice.
According to President Obama,“it is ice cold and tasty”. The White House Honey Ale and Honey Porter are brewed using traditional methods and contain a pound of honey collected from a beehive on the South Lawn. “The honey gives a the beer a rich aroma and a nice finish but it doesn’t sweeten it”, mentions Sam Kass, White House Assistant Chef. The problem? The recipe has been kept secret until recently, leaving us dry-throated and wondering: how did it taste? does anyone, besides the President, get to try it? will we, mere mortals, ever get to enjoy the sweet taste of presidential brews?
There is a God...
Friends, we can finally declare: there is a GOD! Our prayers have been answered. Media buzzed that the recipe will be soon out, and soon enough it has been released by the White House. We were halfway through our first brew, when it hit us! The American people have been deprived of this icecold, tasty, thirst-quenching presidential brew for too long, and too long is long enough.
This is where you come in...
Our home brew, though mighty, is too small, so we need to grow bigger. Kickstarters, this is where you come in. Join us on our amazing journey to up-size to a brewery that could finally appease America’s thirst for the White House beer. We called it the White House Brewing Company, and since it’s for the people, it will be run by the people.
Pledge in support of our project to join us in our mission. In return, we’ll provide you with goodies and a vote in all decisions associated with the brewery, from location to logos. If you are a home-brewer yourself, make sure to get one of our DIY American Dream Equipment Package and join our online community on www.whitehousebrewing.com (coming soon) to share your ideas, suggestions, and valuable feedback.
Thank you for your support, Kickstarter, and we hope to see you soon over a glass of presidential Honey Ale.
White House Brewing Company is the world's first crowd-sourced, crowd-organized brewery.
·White House Brewing Constitution·
We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Beer, insure this beer is available to all Americans, promote the general happiness that this beer provides, and secure this beer for future generations to come, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the White House Brewing Company.
Section 1. All legislative Powers herein granted shall be vested in a Congress of the Kickstarter backers.
Section 2. The Congress of Kickstarter backers shall be composed of Members whom pledge their support to White House Brewing Company.
Section 3. That no White House beer recipes be kept secret from the hard working people of The United States of America.
We've started the process. We have designed some great pledge levels to get everyone involved, searched for the perfect location, designed bottles, logos, apparel, and more. Every choice will be made democratically, with every backer getting a vote in even the most minute of detail. We will do the hard work, the execution, the nitty gritty, we're here to execute. We want everyone to feel like they helped create White House Brewing, not just threw money at something cool on the internet. When everything is said and done, you'll call this company yours.
"The American, by nature, is optimistic. He is experimental, an inventor and a builder who builds best when called upon to build greatly." JFK
