You don't know what you need, until you get what you want...
Jason Bavanandan's forthcoming album Whiplash Dreams was conceived as the soundtrack to an imaginary film.
We, Clearhead, now plan to make that film! And help him create what will be the first ever cinematically-released album.
As the production company, we are working for FREE because we believe so strongly in this project: the songs and the album's concept. We have adapted a screenplay of his story and already have the crew and the facilities to get going, but we still need you - his audience - to help us make it happen and bring his Music Film to you.
Your support will guarantee us those other essentials like props (make-up and clothes), permits (to film outside), and petrol (to get the crew and equipment to locations).
Bavanandan was the songwriter and lead singer with the band Battle who rose to critical prominence with two cult albums (signed to Warner Records and EMI Publishing). This latest work, Whiplash Dreams, was some time in the making as he searched for a new way to present it.
We believe that he's found it. As do his new publishers, Sony/ATV, who have recently signed him and the new album.
It tells the story of a couple who drive to a new town to save their relationship. But things don't go the way they planned. Things rarely do... The place: South East London. The time: now.
Each of the 12 songs relate a monthly episode during the one year in which the story unfolds. The album opens in January, and then travels through the changing seasons, which in turn act as a backdrop to colour and enhance the story. Collectively, it spans and narrates the final 12 months in this young couple's relationship.
The first time you hear the music will be as you're watching the movie - a 'music film' and not a 'musical'!
A tale of intrigue and suspense, and with its existentialist message about progress, modern relationships and unconscious needs, it could be described as a fable - because while the future always beckons, the past can stop you dead in your tracks, if you let it...
It's ambitious and not without its challenges but with your support this concept can be executed properly to create a unique and novel experience: the first ever cinematically-released album, ready for release early next year.
The soundtrack, also entitled Whiplash Dreams, will be commercially available as a standalone album upon release of the film.
It's just never been done yet, so join us as we break new ground in music and film!

Risks and challenges
This is a unique challenge, requiring experienced personnel to create a steady infrastructure around it.
We have the team who meet this criteria.
Headed by Gavin O'Brien and Alex Lawrence, digital agency Clearhead (www.weareclearhead.com) and their team of creatives will be on hand to produce a compelling visual counterpart to Jason Bavanandan's album, the story of which being adapted for the screen by up-and-coming scriptwriter Jon Lush.
Your support will ensure that we can begin strongly: securing the right cast, locations, props, and devising practical deadlines. This will allow us to craft an innovative British film and to ensure its wide release.
With a modest budget, we aim to finish filming by the end of the year, filming a couple of days each month to really capture Britain's seasonal shifts - a key backdrop to the changing moods of this 'year-in-the-life' film.
There will always be set-backs and unforeseen hurdles, but the key is to respond to them creatively and with confidence. Clearhead's experience ensures that we are well placed to surmount challenges in a resourceful and practical way; and our facilities guarantee that we will maintain momentum and high production values, despite the project’s low budget nature.
We have the right team to realise the potential of this project, and to bring the vision to life - on budget and on time.
We aim to make you proud of your contribution. Without you, it would be impossible.
We all thank you so much for your time and pledge.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
