Thank you for stopping by our 9th Kickstarter campaign - Upcycled Ink: Handmade Pens made from Reclaimed Materials
07/17 UPDATE: NOW AVAILABLE IN GOLD!
Solid surface materials, were invented in the late 60s by DuPont and have been used for counter tops, tables, and bars for decades. This material is stain resistant and has an amazing finish to it when sanded smooth.
All of the pens in this campaign are made out of reclaimed & recycled solid surface counter top material.
Three different rewards are available for this campaign. The Slim is a sleek simple pen for every day carry. The Trim has more weight and size and is great for writing for longer periods of time. The Mini fits great in pockets and purses to take on the go.
Each pen is available in chrome, gold, or gun-metal finish and comes in 5 different colors.
Each pen or pencil comes in a black foam lined gift box to keep it safe during shipping. Each pen comes with your choice of black or blue ink. The pencils come with 7mm lead. Additional boxes will be available after the campaign through BackerKit.
Select a bold, natural, or neutral color to fit your personality. Names inspired by nature.
One of the most common questions we receive during our campaigns is: "How do I pledge for more than one reward?" We have decided to use BackerKit for both survey/backer management as well as to offer upgrades and add-ons. If you'd like to pledge for more than one reward, feel free to pledge the total amount of all the rewards you would like or you can add on items after the campaign is over. BackerKit will verify which add-ons/upgrades you would like and adjust the cost for all your items and shipping. We will also be offering pen boxes, pouches, ink refills, and other upgrades/add-ons through BackerKit.
Initially, pen making started out as a hobby. It grew from that into a family business that supplements our income. We currently run an online Etsy shop and sell items locally through consignment and craft fairs, but that isn't enough to provide for our growing family of 7 (and 2 cats!). Kickstarter allows for global exposure and creates permanent relationships with people who are passionate about what we create and also with potential retail buyers.
Our goal for this campaign is to cover cost of the campaign rewards and pay for the completion of our shop upgrade project. When we began making pens, we had a small space in our single car garage. Over time, as we grew, more space was needed, and the ability to work during the winter cold and summer heat became a necessity. Over the past few months we have been remodeling the garage to weatherproof and create some more workable space. We've completed quite a bit of the project, but there is still a bit more to go. HELP MAKE IT HAPPEN!
Risks and challenges
While every project has risks and challenges, we have carefully thought out most aspects of our campaign. This being our 9th Kickstarter campaign, we've had practice getting our checklist for reward delivery tuned up. We will also be utilizing BackerKit which helps with organization and survey management.
The biggest challenge that we may face is demand. If we have a high demand, we will have to spread out our fulfillment over a longer period of time. We will clearly communicate any changes to scheduled fulfillment if it occurs.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
