About this project
I really enjoy making nerdy parody videos for YouTube. I've made Doctor Who parodies, Harry Potter parodies, and parodies about being a nerd. They've all been very popular and well-received by the YouTube community.
I Watch Doctor Who a parody of Welcome to My Hood
Gallifrey a parody of Born This Way
Hogwarts State of Mind a parody of Empire State of Mind
My problem, is that I use the money out of my own pocket, and as a college student, I don't have much money available to spend on production value.
I've been working on a parody of PSY's song 'Gangnam Style' in the theme of Doctor Who, and I'm really pleased with the way the lyrics turned out. The only thing, is that when I watch the 'Gangnam Style' music video, I know that my music video has to be amazingly over the top.
I'd like it to be almost as over the top as the original 'Gangnam Style' music video. I plan to dress up as the Eleventh Doctor and film scenes on a boat, dancing in front of big buildings, making a fool of myself in the general public, having a scene with a fan blowing in my face, all while dressed as the Doctor. I might even have some people dress up as companions or Doctor Who characters. Maybe some other Doctors will be in the video with me.
With your funding, I'd be able to travel to different locations to film the video, pay for near-professional lighting, lenses, the jib crane for the video camera, and be able to have someone create the karaoke audio. And maybe some explosions.
Because it's a parody video, I will not be submitting the video for revenue on YouTube. It's meant purely to be artistic and, in no way, will be for monetary gain. Also, the audio will be created by a third party so there will be no copyright infringement.
Thanks for your contribution!
And remember, always bring a banana to a party. Bananas are good.
Risks and challenges
I'll be putting together a team to help me film the video and one of the major challenges will be finding a time when we can all get together to travel to the location and film for a few hours at a time. I don't foresee that as being an insurmountable task, though.
I will not be gaining any revenue off of the music video and the audio will be created by a third party so there will be no copyright infringement, although, I have yet to find someone who can make the audio track.
