BOSTON BAND WE WERE ASTRONAUTS PARTNERS WITH RENOWN PRODUCER WARREN HUART
(Boston, MA) Boston’s own indie rock pop quartet, We Were Astronauts, is excited to announce that they will be collaborating with industry vet, Warren Huart, on their next EP (5 songs). This project is expected to be a strong follow up to their well-received debut album entitled “Outside Boston”. The band plans to take advantage of the winter months to hone in on the song ideas they have, before they head out to LA early in 2014 to record with Huart.
This Los Angeles-based British producer has played a fundamental part in the creation of platinum winning and billboard-soaring albums, as well as the development of many of today’s successful artists’ careers. A few of the many notable artists Huart has worked with include Aerosmith, The Fray, and Augustana, in addition to landing many TV and movie placements.
We Were Astronauts found much success with their first album “Outside Boston” through the likes of Kickstarter, and will use the same approach on this project. Antonio Casasanta, lead singer and rhythm guitarist for We Were Astronauts, comments that Kickstarter played a vital role in their success. “I truly believe Kickstarter and other platforms like it, allow us to get close with our fans. We have made so many new friends through this platform and their involvement in making our passion a reality. Kickstarter has the ability to create this sense of intimacy between band and fan base, almost as if they are the driving force in making our music come to fruition. In reality they are the very reason we have made it this far and to them we are forever grateful.”
From an outside perspective it is sometimes hard to understand where all the funds go. We thought we would break down the cost to make an EP (5 songs) for you all. We ran a kickstarter for our last album which was a complete success! However, we never outlined the costs for the people who invested in us, and so this time we wanted to be as transparent as possible.
For this project, you can be assured all funds received will go directly to the Studio and the fees incurred in the recording phase. We hope this breakdown helps build confidence for you all both in our determination and drive as a band to fulfill our goal.
Breakdown of Funds:
Hopefully Raised through Kickstarter: $10,000 - this will go directly to work with Warren, Studio Time, Pre Post Production, Mastered Mixes for 5 songs. We will spend 5 full days in the studio.
In addition to Kickstarter Funds: $5,000 - $7,000 - estimated additional cost managed by WWA, including: Travel and Hotel Costs, Mastering of songs, Pressing of physical CDs, T shirts, Documentary of recording session, Promotion etc.
Risks and challenges
With any investment comes risk. Having run a kickstarter campaign for our previous Album, we are aware of the pitfalls and struggles we may face. We know what to expect and have planed accordingly for the deadlines we have set up.
We hope and encourage you all once again to be part of something special!!!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
