Many of the farmers who grow our coffee beans are raising their children and families in very undesirable conditions. They have asked for schools to provide a means of helping themselves. A team of people have responded through the event "Run Across Ethiopia," and we are making a movie to document the project.
From January 9th to January 20th, 2011, ten runners are undertaking a 240 mile ultra-marathon across central Ethiopia to raise awareness and funds to build three schools in a particularly poor, rural region of villages who grow coffee.
We are currently in Ethiopia documenting the dedicated team of runners along with Michigan musicians Seth Bernard and May Erlewine who are leading a cultural exchange initiative. Seth and May will be actively interacting with communities and school children while writing an album throughout the expedition.
Seth and May's newly recorded music based on their Ethiopia experiences will feed into the soundtrack for the film along with field recordings from the trip. Your help in raising $5000 by February 1st to complete the movie's post production will be greatly appreciated.
