Hello and welcome to The Divine!
This party card game will turn your friends into great friends, great friends into enemies, and you will probably hate your enemies even more.
What is The Divine?
The Divine is a 100 card game that is played with 3 or more people.
To play it, you just need the game, friends, something to drink and somewhere to play it.
Every card of the set is custom created and unique, there are no doubles, with only one exception, this brings the total cards in the deck to 101.
Setup is quite easy, just put the deck in the center of the table, fight who gets to begin and continue clockwise.
Complete instructions are included in the deck and we will also give you some examples on how to interact with certain cards.
You can use whatever type of liquid you prefer to play this game, there are no perfect ways to ruin friendships!
The creation of the cards took months to complete and ideas to gather took us even longer, but we managed to fit every card in a certain type and the interaction between some cards is just great because of this time alotted.
They are all high quality printed plastic-coated playing card size, so easy to read and no problem if you get them wet!
So now on to the actual cards, there are 5 card types;
Mission [30 cards]
These types of cards will be (ab)used the moment they come into play.
Global [25 cards]
Global rule cards remain in play and affect every player.
Status [20 cards]
Status rules remain in play and affect a single player, either negative or positive.
Trickery [15 cards]
These types of cards can be held by the player who draws them, to use them at a later time in the game.
Special [10 cards]
Special cards will be used the moment it comes into play by the drawing player and will change the current game state.
Every card will consist of a name, type, picture, details and a footer with information about the set and card number.
In the deck there are a total of 100 different and unique cards.
Here is a list of the names of the first 100 cards in the game!
We are using consistent (100% English) language patterns to provide a clear and structured detail field for cards to be understood and played.
For this to be an affordable project, we want to to produce it at the lowest possible cost.
Because the production cost will be very close to the actual purchase price, we needed to adjust for taxes and shipping.
The first print we made came to about 30 euros, we found this way too much for a card game, regardless of the work we put into it.
If there is a batch order for the first edition print of The Divine, we can cut down on costs and make it available for a very reasonable price. But the batch order comes at a steep price, and in order to get the costs down, we need to order a lot of copies.
In other words, without this Kickstarter we will not be able to produce this game!
The types of credit will be shown in the upcoming website and/or facebook page, to show our gratitude to our backers.
After the basic rewards, we try to incorporate a certain creative element into the game for the backers to help us achieve an even greater game.
Every backer that gets to submit a creative idea for us to use (Supreme Court & End Game) must make sure that the picture is copyright free and able for us to print.
On every reward (except Support) you can expect a copy of The Divine to arrive somewhere in late September 2014 and will be securely packaged and neatly organized.
Independant of the succesful nature of this kickstarter, we will create at least one expansion in the near future.
This is because we are always searching for new and interesting cards and after we compiled a few, we always want to make more and more!
If this project was succesfully backed, we will be sure to present it here to our backers and potential new backers.
This is a project we already found to be VERY amusing when played with the right people and especially on nights you find yourself with nothing to do, you can adjust an entire evening into a night of silly fun.
The Divine is a very diverse game with a lot of chances to learn something new about your friends.
So go out there, make horrible new enemies or just make people hate you and the game in general, in a fun way!
Thank you for your time in reading all we had to say, when we are succesfully funded we hope you find the game just as fun as we did!
Risks and challenges
We processed and printed a few copies of the game for us and our friends to play, so there are no major (or even minor) risks.
The prints came out excellent, we were very surprised with the quality.
As of the meta; after excessive playtesting we found some minor glitches within the rules and cards that will be adjusted in time for the final print to go to the backers.
