Investi-Gator is here to solve crimes, and as soon as he remembers what crimes he was going to solve, he'll be ALL OVER 'em. And as long as his brother Insti-Gator is around, he'll ALWAYS have someone to trust!
Investi-Gator and the Case of the Big Crime is a three-episode comedy adventure PC game, about 1-1.5 hours long, that's one part love letter to Humongous Entertainment, one part inversion of classic adventure games, and two parts wholesome goofy jokes. Episode 1 was made in two weeks in 2016 as a game jam, followed by Episode 2, a longer project that ended in late 2017. Now Episode 3 is almost done, and is over twice the length and quality of the other two combined!
A web version of episode 1 is here! It's about 10 minutes long and gives an idea of the sense of humor the whole project has- though, as the original 2 week game jam, it's not quite as polished as the other episodes.
FUNDED: At $2000, we'll hide a bunch of lil guys in the game. Picture like how you could find secret spots in Humongous Entertainment games that'd dance and animate when you clicked them. Except also, they're all elfs.
At $4000, we'll do a standalone Investi-Gator adventure... with puppets!
This would be a live-action puppet adventure. More details to come as we get closer to this goal.
At $8000, we'll make an ENTIRE BONUS EPISODE about Investi-Gator on the high seas!!

The Investi-Gator: The Case of the Big Crime plotline will tie itself up in the base game either way, so this is one final standalone adventure about boat crimes.

John is the lead bee! He's- I'm writing this. Hello. Hi. It's John, here. I do all the 3D art, design, code, writing, UI, social media, team management, etc. etc. etc. I'm a very busy bee.
Connor does all the music, most of the voices and sound effects, and co-wrote most of the script.
Saafris was a key part of the original jam and still contracts in for all the 2D character art. (They designed all the original characters!)
Q: Why such a small goal?
A: The game is nearly already done, so there won't be any mystery costs. The goal amount is to retroactively break even, not including our lead dev's time costs. Also, it's our first Kickstarter, so we're playing it cautiously!
Q: What will you do with funds past the initial goal?
A: Some will go toward future Games By Bees games, and the rest will be split among the dev team. Again, we've been working on this for a very long time- our initial goal doesn't cover most of the time put in.
Q: What PLATFORM is this for, anyway?
A: Just Windows for now. We might look into ports at some point in the future, though.
Q: Steam fees, huh?
A: Yeah! We'd like to put our game on Steam. Backers will receive both a DRM free copy of the game on Itch.io, and a Steam key.
Q: Wait, didn't Investi-Gator 2 come out like a year ago? What happened to that?
A: Investi-Gator 2 was a free game we released in late 2017. We've since taken it down to be packaged with the full game.
Risks and challenges
For this specific game: pretty much none. It's nearly done!
But, gauging the public reaction to this Kickstarter will have a huge impact on the future of Games By Bees.
