For a long time we have wanted to make toys for some of our most popular characters. The initial process started about 8 years ago when we started researching how we might go about doing this. Unfortunately we didn't have the knowledge in house on how to go about it and life managed to get in the way.
Having recently taken on a new merchandise manager in the form of the magnificent Rob Spacey of Viva Hate, we now have someone who knows what they are doing, and he has made our fumbling attempts to get this done into a reality.
We had the basic designs drawn up, but these ideas needed to be translated into something that works well as a 3d collectable. So we worked with a toy design company to do this. Initially we wanted a design aesthetic that worked across all the toys, but after one too many really chubby Rosco's we decided that what worked for the animal toys wasn't going to work for Savlonic, so we went back to the drawing board and did a complete redesign. Luckily this one worked, and after a lot of research we managed to find a trusted manufacturer to make our toys.
So this is where we are, needing your help to get the project completed. We have shelves full of collectables of other people's toys, we decided it was time to have our own toys on there. With your help we can make this a reality.
Risks and challenges
The main risk with this project is that they toys don't come out looking as we want them. A long time has been spent on choosing the right designer and toy manufacturer, so hopefully we have already cut down on the likelihood of that happening.
Potential delays will come down to production. We have already approved the 3D images for production, so the prototypes are being created. Once this is complete we can have a better understanding of the production times.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
