Please, bring Glory back... She is the my favourite character in years. I mean, a romance would be great option too, but as far as I can run with her and help her, I am happy.

I just don't know. KS'd the first two games and, while I suppose I got my money's worth, it just got repetitive. None of the points I added to anything other than shooty healy were ever really used, which is a shame because I was really looking forward to the deckers (OK, so *once* I got to jack an elevator or something, and one battle was all in cyberspace). I was also unimpressed with the AI as they seemed to give me the same primary dialog choices each time and always used the same attack patterns. Fun game I guess, but much too focused on shooty solutions and just way too linear. I just picked up Portal 1 & 2 and the Space Marines add-on on sale at Steam and that will keep me occupied through this campaign. Best of luck tho.

      ~Cheers.

Wow! Really looking forward to this! Especially given how awesome DragonFall was!
Great news HBS, I cant wait to see more.

    4. William "Bios Element" Chambers on

Honestly, Meh. Not impressed, don't intend to fund further. That being said, Best of luck. The whole concept is amazing, just left somewhat lackluster by the execution. Keep going in the right direction though.

    5. Scott Gladstein on

I mean it was fun... I don't know if I need THAT much more of it. I saw this and was kinda like "Meh".

I loved the first two campaigns, and I sincerely hope we have more coming! Looking forward to it, HBS :)

A kickstarter page with no information or even hint at what's to come? Pointless promotional most people will forget about inside of a week. *yawn*

    8. Nicholas Gray on

I can't even say how excited I am for this. The original SRR was good but Dragonfall was absolutely amazing. I was really hoping for another campaign and am going to back this one to the hilt. An otherwise mediocre day for me gets some really good news!

    9. Gera Hmurov on

So as I take it SRR and Dragonfall weren't a commercial success enough to fund next projects?

    10. Lost-brain -Obsidian Order Dark Goddess on

So, after few forum discussions, it appears that a certain number of fans felt "betray" by the non respect of the localization's promise for Dragonfall.
It can be difficult for you (HBS) ro raise fund it they promise again for this future KS a localization; backers won't trust you anymore... I dont' know if the localization stretch goal have put in the first campaign a great number of backers (for me, I dont't mind if it will have localization or not), but be careful if you try to use this feature for attract backers...

    11. ET3D on

@Moritz Schubert, the negativity is partly because not all people were happy with SRR, and partly because a post like this, without any information, is an invitation for people to spill their guts about the previous project.

    12. Moritz Schubert on

What's up with all this negativity?
When I saw this kickstarter update I was like "YEESSS!!"

I liked Dead Man's Switch and I really liked Dragonfall (haven't completed it yet, though), so I can't wait to see what you guys have in store.

Ugh. I think I'm going to sit this one out. Sadly, I found SR lacking and if I really want to revisit it, I'll be buying it on Steam when it hits $10. Also, I can't help but think that some of the money (or resources associated with the KS) were allocated to help get Golem Arcana off the ground. I really didn't dig how it seemed like GA was ready to go to KS after only a few short months after SR launched.. just my $.02

    14. Missing avatar

      Azriel on

Interesting, ok here is my opinion. While I liked SR, it was also pretty lacking and honestly have to blame having it ported to tablets and phones as a big factor of why it was so limiting. The stories were pretty good, but I got bored with it being nothing but a shooter fest. It made your other skills mostly useless except for specific events. Deckers were screwed over most of the levels. One of my favorite parts was where you could sneak into the building and complete the mission without going on a shooting fest. That was very, very rare though. I would like to have alternative ways of doing missions without run and gunning everything. How about using dialogs? Or disguises? Or sneaking in? or using drones? bribes? hacking security network to give you false credentials? Anything, but having to go all rambo all the time, and something for non-combat classes to do. Want more focus on deckers for sure, and maybe have an astral space this time?

What I would really like to see is not a tablet game, but a full on RPG like original fallouts, planescape torment..etc in the shadowrun universe. I am sure this is what a lot of fans want, that a kickstarter for a full RPG would sell like crazy...maybe a joint work with obsidian?

Whatever it is, a new game or sequel or expansion, I would love to see the Matrix part of the game expanded. The matrix portion was SERIOUSLY lacking in DMS and Dragonfall. I mean, even the Sega Genesis game had a much more robust and complex matrix system. In fact, I would love to see something almost identical to that.

Either way I am really excited and looking forward to hearing more about this!

    16. RC on

...also, because the Director's Cut totally deserves it. ^_^

Seeing bitcomposer games represented you in some countries, does this (http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/232426/Publisher_Bitcomposer_files_for_bankruptcy.php) have any impact on you? *worried*

Yes, but only if it's multilanguage, and it has a Linux support.

    22. Dave, Shadowrunner on

Anyway, HBS, as long as this upcoming Kickstarter is for another single-player Shadowrun CRPG and not a damned MMO... shut up and take my nuyen!

    23. Dave, Shadowrunner on

@ET3D: I don't think HBS ever *promised* anything regarding user generated content on mobile platforms. They had said that "maybe" they will release a "best of" compilation of UGC for tablets at some point in the future. And considering that as far as I know, most of the UGC is still a work in progress (i.e., the first part of an intended longer adventure) it frankly seems best to wait until there is more quality UGC completed. Otherwise we'll likely end up with a compilation of mini campaigns ending on cliffhangers, which wouldn't be very satisfying. I have SRR on my Android tablet and will buy DF as soon as I'm able to upgrade my OS to the latest version... It's great to be able to play such quality RPGs when I'm not at home.

But honestly I awonder if it would be better if HBS just made future Shadowrun adventures PC/Mac/Linux only. There's been a lot of speculation that HBS had to dumb down or otherwise limit the game to make it playable on mobile. Some of that may be PC user elitism, but there's probably a lot of truth to it as well (i.e., having to develop the game with the memory / graphics processing limitations of mobile devices in mind).

    24. Andre on

So... could you give us, loyal patrons, a time and date for the new Kickstarter?

"but I didn't finish Dragonfall either, due to lack of player choice (I wanted to agree with the main "villain")." - Scelous.

But that's totally possible in Dragonfall...

In fact I was pretty impressed with how many variations there are on the ending.

    28. Mark on

I enjoyed the last game and Dragonfall was definitely a move in the right direction for the series. I hope you continue to build on what you've got, flesh everything out, add more depth, choice and consequence to the world.

I see the hype machine is being primed ;)
      I liked "Shadowrun Returns".
      I liked better "Shadowrun Dragonfall".
I like the fleshed out feel of "Shadowrun Dragonfall - Director's Cut".
I don't put money down blindly though, so I will wait and see your new proposition is.

    30. madGamer on

Count with me ;) i want more fantastic rpg. i only hope for a larger campaign

    31. ET3D on

I'll wait for more info to see if I'm excited about this. I do think that the Shadowrun Returns end results were good, so at least in this respect I trust HBS.

That said, it would be cool if there was some love directed towards the official site at http://www.shadowrun.com/shadowrun-returns/. It still keeps asking us to preorder SR, both on the main page graphic and about page.

Plus HBS promised that some user created content would make it into the Android version and that hasn't happened. Also pity that I had to learn here (thank wintr!) that the Android version of Dragonfall is out. I also agree with wintr, mobile versions as part of the KS would be nice. For Android it could be as simple as a Humble store download.

      Scelous on

I pledged $125 for the first Shadowrun kickstarter, and I was pretty disappointed with the results. Shadowrun Returns felt like a cheap Flash game for Facebook; I couldn't finish it. I liked Dragonfall more, but I didn't finish Dragonfall either, due to lack of player choice (I wanted to agree with the main "villain").

I won't be backing future projects.

    33. Brantley Love on

I'm not sure about this. With the near fiasco with the last project, is it really appropriate to start a new Kickstarter? I'm not sure yet, myself, but I'll have to wait for more information to be released before I know for sure.

      Shadowrun Re-Returns? :P

But seriously: Awesome news, I'm excited!

I backed you last time just because I was hyped on the 'Let's KS games' movement. But now I've played your games, so I'll be backing you as a fan :D That means for quite a bit more money! I mean first up I've gotta pay you for Dragonfall:DC, then what I want to back the new game for on top of that!

    39. Jess Montgomery on

As long as it has DRM and a steam key i'll be there!

Oh wait no really i have the internet 100% of the time and don't care how it arrives i'm not that hip I guess, just make another great game for the pc and i'll buy it, back it and all of the above.

I don't understand. My initial investment got me Dead Man's Switch, Dragonfall, and Dragonfall: Director's Cut. I actually felt guilty about getting D:DC for free, you bastards, it was so good for what I paid. Now you're telling me there's a new Kickstarter, and I immediately filled a bag full of money, but I have nowhere to throw it.

You've earned my trust, HBS. I almost don't want to see the next product until it's released, just TAKE MY DAMNED MONEY ALREADY.
