      Awesome guys, great news!

    2. Marcin Wolny on

Brace yourselves! The flood of DLCs is coming!

    3. Owen on

Would it be possible to get a link to the text of the announcement in some fashion rather than just an non-captioned video?

Hmm BT is great, but I hope they'll revisit Shadowrun some day.

I guess the FAQ from the May 12th, 2017 update (#38) needs some updating now. I wasn't happy when you needed to partner up with Paradox to publish, but understood it and appreciated that they were going to keep their dirty DLC covered hands off of Battletech. It's a shame that you had to sell to them. Hopefully you get to roll around in Scrooge McDuck piles of money, and good luck with your future DLC.

Excellent, congrats! But please, don't follow the typical Paradox DLC spam! Sure, do DLC, but at least make it sizeable and meaningful!

    7. Nich Weidman on

(The thing I hate most about KS's comments format is that I can't 'like' other peoples' comments.)

Not wild about Paradox and how they handle a lot of stuff (required account, DLC spam, etc), so I really hope the best-of-both-worlds assurance in the video is true, where HBS will still operate the same way and only use Paradox for marketing and such. (If something seems too good to be true...) I have misgivings, but haven't been steered wrong by HBS yet. (A followup post to address the concerns a lot of us have would be fantastic.)

    8. Fiachra Mac Aodha on

I would like more Battletech, just not if it follows the Paradox DLC strategy of releasing the game over the course of a decade in an endless stream of overpriced micro-chunks.

    9. Sebastian D. on

      Well, Congratulations!
While this Battletech Kickstarter made me realize that I'm probably not the target audience for your strategy games, I'm happy to hear that you guys can continue to make the games you enjoy.

    10. Komm the Hovercat on

Congrats! This is pretty good news and I'm happy to hear it. :D

I'm Very happy for you and your Great Team! I look forward to all that is to come.

    13. Dustin Fisher on

It is rare that I like game publishers, but I like Paradox Interactive. They will be a great home for you. Congratulations on selling out to a good publisher :p

      Crickett on

Love Paradox so congrats! Glad you are still able to pursue your chosen products.

My husband and I would love to have a co-op mode in future Battletech, by the way, since I saw others mention it and wanted to add how much we'd love it!

    15. Missing avatar

      Ante on

      Yessssssss! More Battletech!

    16. Wildonion on

Congratulations guys! Keep producing games and I will keep buying 'em.

    17. Marek Homsi Andráši on

I don't know how to feel about this. I don't want a bazilion of overpriced DLC's for Battletech, even though Paradox promises that will not be the case, and I don't want you to work on Battletech 2 right away. I hoped for Shadowrun:NewCity to follow Battletech and maybe then for yout go back to Battletech. Now I am afraid.

    18. Some furf on

I'm not surprised you like being with Paradox. They let you release a barebones game, then fix it with patch after patch and DLC after DLC of things that should have been there from the start.

    19. Eunu on

      More BattleTech? [clears calendar]

    20. roy cowing

Super cool! I too love the DFA Hoodie. COngrats and I hope this partnership maximizes your create time and profit!

    21. Brandon on

Huge congrats. Love the game and hope to see this game grow into a longer-term franchise.
(Coop would be amazing). Also, ignore the haters as you'd struggle to find a strategic partner that the internet would approve of regardless of who it was.

    22. Jeffrey C. Anthony on

      Great news and congratulations!

Pleased to hear it's business as usual, and am left now wondering, what will business as usual be now that there's greater stability for HBS?

Most are asking for their favorite things, or complaining, but the question in everyone's mind really is if this gives you more creative freedom, where to next? Will there still be kickstarter campaigns for funding and the community experiences that build around that? Will it be more of a traditional release structure moving foward? What's the 5 year plan?

    23. JusitnKase

      Congrats :D

      Alistair Pope on

hmm well if they stay away from the awful DLC strategies of Paradox maybe things will be ok but frankly battletech is a hot mess at the moment I would prefer they keep working on optimising it and less about how to make more cash later

    25. Tjuhl on

congrats on this business deal. looking forward what's to come in regards to Battletech and other games! :)

      Daniel Toone on

Look forward to overpriced under quality dlc boys. Paradox is a horrible company with a slew of good games ruined by hordes of bad dlc

    27. Tommie M Fite on

More BT guys! I have beaten the campaign and now am ready for more new stuff!
      (And performance fixes!) =)

    28. John Poniske Jr. on

This is fantastic news! I l have loved everything that HBS has done and most every other game I play is Paradox title. With their support I hope to see great things! Especially if you add your quality to Paradox never ending content releases for their games... Congrats!

    29. Zachary M. Drake on

Congrats! I hope this goes well for all! I'm looking forward to more Battletech stuff to come out. I hope you and the Harebrained Schemes employees made some money off the deal as well!

    30. Kraken on

      That's neat!

Now where can I get myself that Death From Above hoodie?

    31. Remember Citadel on

As a customer, I never really got into Paradox. Great if it works for you though. I guess only time will tell whether this is a good or a bad thing.

    32. Matthew Dimalanta

sounds horrific. I love HBS, but dealing with Paradox has been a nightmare.

I am glad to hear there will be more Battletech, hopefully you guys will do more Shadowrun as well.

    33. Christian Alexander Thomas on

@Scott Carlson It is a shame that the Crimson Skies license hasn't been used for so long. It has so much potential.

    34. Joshua Brumley on

Hmm... This could mean parts of wishlist for the came just may come to pass. Specifically, controller support and console port (especially the Switch). Why? Because I'm not always in a position to play keyboard and mouse-style and Switch is my primary video game device these days. :)

    35. Christian Alexander Thomas on

As long as there isn't a million DLCs like Crusader Kings II I am happy for you. I would gladly support some big expansions though.

    36. Missing avatar

      Scott Carlson

So, who at Paradox do I start harassing about acquiring
the Crimson Skies license from Microsoft? It do I just keep badgering Mitch and Jordan at Gencon to put the hex-based CS bug in their ear annually?

    37. Missing avatar

      Matt on

This sounds like a great fit, very happy for you all. More Battletech is a great thing!

    38. Joel Fox on

Hm... not sure if this is good news or bad news. Though, TBH, right now what I'm most concerned about is that Battletech runs like absolute ass. Really hope you won't follow the Paradox cliche and focus on nickel-and-diming us with DLC instead of optimizing your game.

    39. Missing avatar

      Trevor James Coen on

That's awesome. When are we going to get more than 1 lance, or co-op campaigns, or how about a command and conquer style rts?

    40. Missing avatar

      Norbert on

Where can I get the DFA shirt?

    41. Steve on

RIP HBS. Enjoy cutting out sections of your game to turn into DLC.

      Awesome news guys!

      Kelsey Hales on

As soon as I heard you guys were doing some publishing work with Paradox for release, I thought this might happen. Paradox is easily the best publisher out there, congrats! This is exactly what I hoped for.

    44. Missing avatar

      Derek B. Bell on

That's for sharing the news! Does that mean that we might expect to see future DLCs for Stellaris and Battletech that integrates them into a single experience? Planetary invasions with 'Mechs would be awesome!

    45. Jason Smith on

Nice to see the Lord Commander rocking the DFA gear.

Grats on the good news, too!

    46. John Holt

recap: HBS is now partners/part of the Paradox family. HBS is remaining an independent studio while Paradox helps with strategy and pipeline.

    47. Missing avatar

      Kx on

Selling out just like FASA? I loved HBS because they were an independent studio that I backed several times on kickstarter. I will no longer back anything moving forward. Another great company, gone down the drain. RIP HBS.

Flump - the flying turtle on

Historically I avoid paradox game - not because they aren't good but because I cannot stand their mini-dlc model.
