Final Total $2,865,422! All Hail Our BATTLETECH Backers!

Posted by Harebrained Schemes LLC (Creator)
Including PayPal, our final Kickstarter total is a whopping $2,865,422 and you’ve unlocked ALL FOUR FUNDING STAGES. Incredible!

What an amazing month of excitement around BattleTech. We are deeply appreciative of the outpouring of support that the Global BattleTech Community has shown for our Kickstarter project. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Backer Missions Final Tally

Wow. When we asked for the Global BattleTech Community to come together to complete a set of Backer Missions, we had no idea how cool the outcome would be! We asked for you to share your passion, your art, and your stories with us. We’ve seen your pumpkins and costumes, your decades-old BattleTech collections, and your carefully painted and papercrafted ‘Mechs.

You’ve joined your voices to become one loud, booming voice that has rallied folks across social media to our BATTLETECH cause, and we are so grateful! Look at all the stuff you did!

Through your continued effort, you’ve unlocked EVERY SINGLE Mission Reward including cameos from classic BattleTech characters, a full length novel from Michael A. Stackpole, and livestreams galore.

Yesterday Mike, Mitch, and Jordan did an Alcohol-Fueled (read: drunk) Livestream Q&A which you can watch here:

Drunk game developer is drunk.
Drunk game developer is drunk.

Click the image or this link to watch the... fun.

Speaking of livestreams- we have to be completely honest, we were nervous about reaching the final Backer Mission Reward: a Livestream of Mike, Mitch, and Jordan playing Tabletop BattleTech with Randall Bills, Loren Coleman, and Brent Evans from Catalyst Game Labs! Six Beards Enter, Three Beards Leave - winners keep their beards!

We’re not sure when this will be yet (gotta get past pre-production & the holidays and then find a good time for everyone), but keep an eye out for an update on that.  Again, thank you so much for rallying your friends and family to back us and take part in our Backer Missions!

And for those about to lose your beards...we salute you.

ComStar: The Global BattleTech Community Forum

The sharing of BattleTech memories, war stories, and fiction along with future hopes and desires has been a big and rewarding part of this campaign. The discussions these stories and experiences have generated has hopefully been as exciting for you as they have been for us!

It’s abundantly clear that we’re part of a passionate, dedicated community and we want to help you continue the great discussions that have developed. So, in that spirit, we are happy to bring you ComStar: The Global BattleTech Community Forum!

We invite you to join the fun and get in on the ground floor. This will be a much easier and more enjoyable place to communicate with your fellow MechWarriors than the Kickstarter Comments page (for sure). The new forum (obviously) looks a bit bare at the moment, so jump in and get the conversation rolling!

Consider this our first baby step in creating a place for BattleTech fans around the world to connect, discover all the great BattleTech-related community sites out there, have fun, and (cross your fingers) eventually buy cool physical items like the ones in our backer rewards.

If you have initial questions about the ComStar forum, your backer rewards or our BATTLETECH game itself, please check the FAQ section of the forum first:

Kickstarter, BackerKit, and Rewards - What’s Next?

We know a lot of you have never backed a Kickstarter before, so we thought we’d share what happens to your pledge and how we manage your 41,000 (!) Backer accounts.

Starting today, Kickstarter will begin charging your pledges on your credit card but it will take a FEW WEEKS to process over 41,000 backers. If there is a problem charging your account, you’ll receive an email and will have a couple weeks to work that out.

If your pledge payment doesn’t go through on Kickstarter, don’t panic. Your pledge will remain in the system and you’ll be able to make your payment through our pledge management tool - a website called BackerKit.

BackerKit is where you’ll tell us which store you want your game key from, which Heraldry kit you want, the size of your jacket, and shipping information. If you added extra funds to your Kickstarter pledge, it will show as a credit that you’ll be able to apply towards Add-Ons. You’ll also have the option to upgrade your Reward Level or choose more Add-Ons.

Perhaps most important, BackerKit is where you will return to find all your digital rewards as they become available.

We anticipate opening BackerKit accounts during the early part of December, so be sure to keep an eye out for a Kickstarter update with more details around then.

Second Chance Backer Opportunity

From our experience running Kickstarters in the past, we know that there are people out there who won’t find out about the Kickstarter campaign until after it’s over. Our Second Chance Backer site is open so latecomers can support the project and join the community.

Thanks again, y'all!

So they have yet to take my pledge anyone else have this issue?

    2. RC on

@Michael Oh, damn... that doesn't sound silly at all. Really sorry to hear it. And, thanks for the info too...might be a good time to take a short trip up north again. :)

    3. Michael Woods on

OK, I figured out what the issue was, and this is going to sound really silly.

Currency exchange rates. In a rather short period of time, it sounds like the Canadian dollar has gone from more-or-less on par to the USD to a horrible 1990s nosedive. Totally something I should have checked.

In fact, the horrible 90s exchange rate is the main reason to blame as to why I didn't get into Tabletop BT when I was 12 years old. The 4th edition boxed set was selling for $75 back then. It cost more to get it than Mechwarrior 2 or 3.

    4. RC on

@Michael Woods - Check with your credit card issuer/bank to make sure the funds aren't a "temporary hold" first. The credit processing company (Stripe) that Kickstarter uses, might have "checked your credit" with a larger amount as a temporary hold, not an actual payment. This is unfortunately common for credit card processing companies to do, and it can take a few days for the "temporary hold" to release. HOWEVER, if your bank says it's NOT a "temporary hold" ...then pursue this with all due haste. KIckstarter support can take a few days to reply, so ping them on Facebook/Twitter if need be as well.
You can use to directly email them. Again, it can take a few days to receive a reply, but put the word BILLING ISSUE in the title to speed things up. Good luck, omae.

    5. Michael Woods on

On that note, who should I contact with proof that "Too much" payment has gone through?

    6. Michael Woods on

      Hey guys,

Recently, I received an e-mail telling me that my account has been withdrawn for the amount I bid for... However, there was a very significant disparity between the amount I bid and the amount that my account was charged. I know I live in Japan, but in spite of the amount of "Freebies" being sent my way, I don't think shipping rates to the tune of over $600 is correct, even if the jacket is lined with lead.

    7. RC on

@Jordan Jansen You should be able to increase your pledge once they open up the Backerkit in December. More time to save... ^_^

I hope this get read and responded to. I didn't have enough money at the time the kickstarter finished to get the package i wanted. Can I upgrade after it's already been completed? I see you're running the second chance campaign and would love to up myself from the meager 35 i had to stick to the 125. Please let me know if this is doable

Just wanted to update everyone with the news that my CC transaction finally went through. I suspect they were simply overwhelmed by the sudden appearance of all the dropships!

I did nothing, and I got an email this morning that I was charged $1 to my Amazon Visa, so it looks like everything got cleared up. (I pledged and got charged threw PayPal with no problems since day 1)

    11. RC on

@Robert Unfortunately, they've already said no, repeatedly. :(

    12. Robert Nijkamp on

Could you please give us Comstar as one factions that we can back

    13. RC on

@Rentier Good to know! Glad you got it working ^_^

@RC no private Modus and no adblock active - needed a restart - seems my cache was full - problem solved - Thx

(update from my post below about also having the CC declined for no apparent reason)

I did nothing (on the assumption that it was a KS problem and I'd try again in a day or two) and got an email a half hour ago that my payment was accepted.

So....fixed on KS's end with no action on my part.

    16. Michaeljack on

Just got my confirmation through. Guess Kickstarter is fixing the problem!

      @Harebrained Schemes LLC
As others have already reported, and I also learned from talking to my bank is, that the issue with rejected credit cards during the first hours after the kickstarter had ended, was due to them trying to charge an amount of $0.00 instead of the actual pledge.
(Works now and I was able to fix my payment.)

"If there is a problem charging your account, you’ll receive an email and will have a couple weeks to work that out."

The automated eMail from kickstarter states that I only have 7 days, or I will get dropped from the project.

    19. Missing avatar

      Dominik on

The system also rejected my credit card initially. The first automatic payment failed, and the one I tried one hour later.
My bank states that they didn't even receive any payment request. Now, 15 hours later, it worked when I tried it for a 3rd time. An issue with kickstarter...

    20. Banjo on

I had issues but eventually got my payment processed. I had to try putting in details several times.

Kickstarter seems to be having some CC processing issues at the moment. A week ago, I got a "payment refused" message on another campaign, and then I got it on this one, too. Both times, it was fine when I retried (same card; didn't even re-enter any information). These are the only two times I've had any payment problems in a couple years and 74(!) successful campaigns supported. Hopefully the issue will just be temporary and ks will be back to processing payments without incident soon.

      Eidetic on

Same problem with the credit card. I retyped the same info in and no problem. So happy this got funded.

Great campaign; I can't wait to see what you bring us HBS.

    23. James Yee on

WOO! Thank you guys for giving me a reason to come back to Kickstarter.

    24. Eric Schwarz on

Congratulations on the hugely successful campaign, guys. You deserve a holiday after that one... though hopefully not too long. ;)

    25. NotableJoe on

I got a notice from Kickstarter that my pledge was rejected by my CC company. I logged into Kickstarted and clicked "Reattempt payment" and it went though. Never happened before with any of my other Kickstarter pledges.

I had a problem with my card and contacted the customer service. They said the charge was never attempted. Went back to kickstarter and retried and it went through immediately.

Just retried my card and it worked. Hopefully that means the problem is resolved.

My Amazon Visa got declined for a $1 transaction; glad to see if wasn't my balance that was the problem. (Grin)

      Hey HBS!

Grats on another successful Kickstarter. Thanks again for putting out another game. Ive backed the Shadowrun ones and will continue to back your games because you guys put out a superior product every time. The content is absolutely top notch and a pleasure to experience! Thank you again, and I hope you continue to be a success for all of us fans as well as yourselves!

    31. RC on

Rentier, are you using Private Mode? That might be the issue.

    32. Harebrained Schemes LLC 4-time creator on

      Hey y'all!

Spoke to Kickstarter and they're looking into processing issues. In the meantime, they asked that you stay in touch with your bank and approve any charges that the banks try to bounce or to correct any info (or out of date cards) that made it into the system.

      Sorry for the inconvenience!

    33. Jetfire99 on

What a day, you guys got the rights to do BT, we got all the trimmings loaded up. I feel like someone who just found a lost tech supply base and got away from Comstar with the goods. >:D Then the fact we have UNSEEN RETURNING IN THE GAME <3 YESS!

    34. Rentier on

Will Backerkit allow us to increase our pledge a little later?
I got the MechWarrior tier, but I'd like to increase to the Iniate of the Order tier later this month.

    42. TheRealCuran on

IIRC during SR:HK's campaign the slacker backer prices increased soon after the KS campaign finished. But I might be wrong there, since I backed at the beginning of the official campaign.

    43. RC on

@Kx I don't think HBS will leave slacker-backing open that long. I could be wrong, I think they said another 2 weeks or so is all.

    44. Eunu on

+1 CC declined with the bank having no record of any such thing.

    45. Missing avatar

      Kx on

@HBS I really think the slacker backer costs should be higher than what Kickstarters paid. Not really fair, when someone one a year later pays the same price as you did.

    46. Harebrained Schemes LLC 4-time creator on

We've contacted Kickstarter to see if there's something going on we don't know about. Stay tuned.

    49. RC on

      Credit Card Problems?
Wait a bit. Stripe, the company Kickstarter uses to process payments will likely re-attempt to process the payment again later, after they fixed their current issue. If your payment was declined, and hasn't been processed again in a day or two, contact HBS to let them know. If your card hasn't been processed yet, that's okay, it can take a while.

    50. Sing Tang on

Card declined here as well. Tried another card, but still the same. Can we get an update when this will be resolved? Thanks.
