Little Kids, Big Future.
Webee is a unique online educational games platform for kids. We wanted to create an open educational ecosystem that grows with the child as they develop, and tracks their progress. So far, our prototype has proven to help children build key early childhood development skills and instill self-confidence. With your help, we will be able to create the minimum order needed for our production model. Based on the feedback generated from our prototypes, our new model will also come with an SDK & EDK - open Software and Educator Development Kits - allowing you to create your own unique Webee games as well as offline educational exercises.
Webee’s durable, ergonomic keyboard with its inviting, brightly-colored keys has been created especially for curious little fingers – making early learning 'child's play' for toddlers. The ideal educational starter pack for independent use by even the youngest of learners, Webee’s games instill self-confidence, spark curiosity, assist with memory improvement and teach decision-making skills to young children. Each of the interactive games revolve around Webee, a fun little bee who helps children learn essential early developmental skills; ranging from how to count, to how to detect certain colors and shapes. As fun as Webee is for kids, from a technical perspective, it is no laughing matter. Webee operates from the 'cloud', running everything completely online, which means that there are no installations and no downloads required.
How it works:
Webee’s unique design allows users to simply plug its slick keyboard into any computer via a USB connection. Once connected, users can access Webee's games through their website - www.webee-world.com. Users can then create unique profiles, allowing the kids to play interactively in a secure environment as well as providing the parents an opportunity to monitor their child’s development.
Webee operates in a closed, secure environment available only to other Webee users. That means that you can start using Webee without having to download or install a thing! With no danger of viruses to your computer, simply plug in the Webee keyboard and transport your child or pupil into the imaginative world of Webee, where learning is exciting, friendly and fun!
Watch your Child Develop & Grow!
Parents and educators: follow your early learners as they grasp new skills and develop at their own unique pace via Webee's easy-to-use monitoring tool. Providing access to over 20 different skills sets including: music, colors, shapes, objects, letters, numbers, basic math and even physics & reading comprehension, Webee keeps you up-to-date on your early learner's progress, every step of the way. In addition, Webee's games already support multiple languages, including English, Russian & Hebrew; so it is possible to use it as a tool to learn a second language as well. Soon it will be supporting additional languages like Spanish, German, French and others.
Online Games. Offline Content.
The Webee platform encourages other software developers to create and sell additional levels for existing games. It also provides them with the ability to design unique new ones. Teachers and parents also have the opportunity to create offline educational materials, based on Webee games, which can be uploaded and sold in the educational game store.
So why Webee?
Yes, it is true that kids these days are using tablets and other hi-tech technologies at younger ages than ever before, but these ‘toys’ can be rather expensive and are often too fragile for the touch of toddlers. Webee will be reasonably priced—costing no more than $60 to $75 and it is made to be durable enough to withstand even the most aggressive kids. Not only is it well priced and well built, but it has proven to be effective In building essential early childhood development skills, such as: fine motor skills, cognitive skills and social skills. Webee’s interactive games teach kids through trial and error thereby allowing users to develop a sense of independence and self-confidence. Children who participated in the focus groups during the market validation phase, proved to be calmer, more self confident and successful in pre-school both academically as well as socially than their peers.
SDK & EDK:
The SDK (Software Development Kit) will allow parents, teachers, gamers, software developers and anyone else who is interested, to create their own Webee games. Similar to the SDK, the EDK (Educator Development Kit) will allow parents and educators to more proactively participate in the education of their children and students, by providing the opportunity to create personalized worksheets and exercises based on any of Webee’s existing games. With a similar commission based system to App Store, Webee will provide people from all over the world the ability to collaboratively contribute to making learning more fun!
Well, first off, we love the idea behind Kickstarter. We are amazed at the remarkable community of creative project makers and generous pledges that have come out of it. Like Kickstarter, we hope that through our collaborative SDK and EDK components, we too will be able to create a more creative and educational online community. However, we are not quite there…
This is why we need YOUR help!
We have been working extremely hard to make Webee the best it can be, for you & your kids. We are currently working on finalizing our SDK and EDK capabilities and creating a safe and open environment for our App Store. In order to start production, we need a minimum order to manufacture Webee at a low enough price point to make it affordable to everyone. With your help we will be able to meet our minimum order and start production so that we can get Webee out to your kids ASAP!
Who we are:
Although Webee consists of a dedicated team of hardworking employees, it would not be here today if it wasn’t for its creators: Rachel and Danny Van Buren. While raising their three small children, Rachel and Danny came up with the idea for Webee, when they saw the need for a educational gaming device that is fun, toddler friendly and easy to use. Rachel, who has an extensive background in hi-tech, decided that she would create a solution herself. Together with Danny, her partner in both life and in business, they have taken Webee from just an idea to what you see today. With your help, we will turn this dream into a reality.
