Daniel & Jenna Watters have been performing together since 2005. This new self-titled album will be our 6th studio album together, but our first time reaching out to our fans for financial help. While we have covered most of the costs for production on the album, we need help getting these new songs out into the cosmos! The cost of a proper marketing campaign, that includes music videos, public relations, and radio distribution can cost $30,000+. We've never had the funds to do such a campaign, but we feel like this is our best work to date and we are ready to put all the chips on the table. We just hired a manager, we have a PR agent from Nashville lined up, and we have a mighty plan in place! But we need your support if we are going to succeed. If all goes as planned, we'll be in Rolling Stone magazine sooner than you know :)
This album was recorded in Austin, Texas at Congress House Studio in August of 2017. It features some of Austin's best musicians, including Trevor Nealon on piano (Band of Heathens), Anthony Farrell on organ (Greyhounds) and the Tijuana Trainwreck horn section (Shiny Ribs.) It was recorded mostly live and there is a palpable energy between the musicians that can be felt. The music features a blend of Americana, Soul, Rock & Jazz with conscious lyrics typically reserved for singer/songwriters.
Risks and challenges
While we've been performing together for over ten years, this album is only our second full length release as The Watters. We've faced our fair share of challenges in self-releasing our previous record including hiring some generic services that delivered very little results as far as radio play and press. This time around we've set out to surround ourselves with a driven and supportive team and create our best content yet both visually and musically!
Almost everything in this project is in place and ready to go: the album was recorded last August and mixed in November by Steve Christiansen (Band of Heathens, Khruangbin), the artwork is done, the vinyl is in production, and we have an amazing PR agent from Nashville lined up. Our biggest challenge with this release is raising sufficient funds to produce high quality music videos and visual content (which helps immensely with press!) and pay for a 6 month PR and radio campaign for the single release, album release, and summer tour!
This album is by far our best work to date, and we hope you'll help us to launch it into the world with our best foot forward!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
