The East Loop is a new band that was started by a group of band leaders in Chicago. It consists of 6 core members and a rotating roster of guest musicians. The East Loop is an instrumental ensemble that blends a wide spectrum of traditions from around the globe, including Jazz, Middle Eastern, Latin American and Funk. The compositions, by Wanees Zarour, Samuel Mosching, Bryan Pardo and others in the band employ complex rhythmic and melodic ideas to create a multi-faceted and layered musical experience like no other. Also, we improvise, a lot.
We are recording 3 of our original pieces (audio and video) in October to be released in November. They are called "Black", "Jurjina" and "East of Now." Your help in funding this project will give us immeasurable support in spreading the word about the band and allowing us to perform in a venue near you. The videos will be shot at a studio during a live recording session.
The musicians are composer, buzuq and oud player Wanees Zarour, guitarist Samuel Mosching, saxophonist and clarinetist Bryan Pardo, Trombonist Chris Shuttleworth, drummer Nick Kabat and bassist Vinny Kabat.
Risks and challenges
Our music is very intricate and extremely difficult to record live, our biggest challenge will be securing funding for production and post-production and completing it all before the end of October.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
