Hope my fellow backers are still getting their rewards! Yesterday I got a sack of goodies from Wayside, and thanks to the gods of international package delivery, all arrived safe and well! I received a couple of caps, both seasons of that show we like on Blu-Ray, a mini poster and a t-shirt! Also, a little note saying thanks for helping and an autograph card from AG. Near as I can figure it, I'm still waiting on the big poster and the special edition DVD, which I would imagine I'm getting on Blu-Ray as that was the format I chose.

An update for my fellow backers from outside the US wondering whether silence is all they'll get in lieu of those palpably absent physical rewards:
I just heard from Becca at WC, who didn't once mention growing up in rural Kentucky or having a dog named Honey, so I think we can take it that she's not a VAX! ;-)
She tells me that at least in my case - and I don't see why I'd be atypical - some of my physical rewards are on the way, and that a tracking number for them was provided. As was indicated to John Green by WC below, the prop PIP-Boy, large poster, small prop, special edition set, are all coming separately and that she'd update me again when more information was to hand. I would expect that as with the first shipment, this too would come with a tracking number. So for those backers in Canada, Northern Europe, Australia and the like, it may very well be the case that a similar experience awaits you and that this may be confirmed soon via your inbox. I hope this information helps people out.
John Green: Great you got some of those items, and that your comment has resulted in more light being shed on the rate and method of dispatch. At least for you locals, it seems that physical rewards are being sent out in stages, so it's going to take even longer than initially seemed the case. Maybe Nuka Break Season 2 should have been a leap year project, to give even more time for WC to get our physical rewards out to us...
As with Joe, would love to hear you share some details about the DVD set you got, so we can all know what it's like.
@Paul ok, at some point (not sure when, got a trip out of town in like two days) I'll sit down and crack open the DVD to see how it is.
@John Green Thanks for reaching out! Your full-size poster, small prop, special edition DVD, and signed PIP-Boy will be sent out separately, so keep an eye out for them.
I am in NYC and just received (most of) my perks. For my level I am still missing the full-size poster, the "small prop" and the signed PIP-Boy replica.
Also, I'm confused by what the "special edition DVD" listed in my reward level is.
Is there actually a separate special edition DVD or is that really just the regular Blu-ray/DVD (which I already received)?
I'll retract the "chibi art" complaint from the t-shirt, WC. It's not there, it's elsewhere.
However, it still rubs me the wrong way - like Muppet Babies meet Fallout - and the art style on the t-shirt still seems not to gel well with the artistic design of the world we like and helped make. If you had to choose the path you did, instead of the design shown to us, why not use photos of yourselves? Doctor it up as a wanted poster, anything. If we didn't like looking at you guys, we wouldn't have helped pay the bills - and I didn't sign up for a comic or cartoon show - something not obvious to people seeing the shirt sans context. As I recall, that decision to change the shirt design was based on a desire to make it more representative of the series. I really don't see how the new design achieved that better.
Again, a little communication goes a long way.
I appreciate the good thought Joe, for backers like me. And I'm glad you got the physical rewards you paid for. I've yet to see anyone review the DVD set, maybe you could do that for us, as regards the menu, extras, sound and picture quality, etc etc. I'm curious about it, and reckon I'm probably in good company on that front. Even those Grimrock pledgers who also expect to receive a copy might be glad of knowing what to expect, too!
I've yet to watch the eps, as I wanted to do that on my Blu-Ray discs. Perhaps I'm not alone in that, I don't know. I figure if I wanted to just watch it on Machinima or YouTube, along with everyone who didn't, couldn't or wouldn't help fund Nuka Break Season 2, maybe it wouldn't have been made. And there's something to be said for being patient.
Of course, patience has its limits...
I must agree with Paulthegrouch on this....you have had a pretty decent number of people on here voicing concerns over still not receiving anything (and thats of course not counting the potentially larger number of people that either a) have just not posted about it or b) completely washed their hands of getting the stuff and figure it will just suddenly show up some day maybe) and the only response given is pretty much the same response given months ago stating that there were delays in filming which impacted the creation of the DVD's. This alone highlights a few major issues....a) the whole filming delay was in itself was never truely broadcast to the backers when it was happening, and an explanation only showed up months afterwards after a large enough outcry was heard b) Quite frankly what does the process of creating DVD's have to do with the current issue people are having of "You said stuff is shipping but I have yet to see any sign of it". You stated the DVD's have been made! Your previous update SHOWS they have been made! Your response does not indicate any actual answer to the people who simply want to know "Where is MY DVD?" Quite frankly the response reminds me of the canned response you hear from like an electric company that you call when they have thousands of houses without power (in robot voice) "We apologize for the in-con-venience of the service outtage. We are working to fix it. Please do not keep calling back. Have a nice day". I know that might be harsh but its how I feel.....and hell I HAVE my rewards and seeing all these people who do not really pisses me off to be quite frank, especially when after almost a month of international backers first asking questions and the only answer they get is information WE ALREADY KNEW! As for "allocating more energy towards finishing the project then communication" I must respond with "SAY WHAT?" We are not, we have never asked for 24/7 streaming answers to our questions. What we wanted was "We will have an update up next week" and approx. a week later "UPDATE POSTED" but what we have actually gotten is "We will have an update up next week" and 5 months later "Hi guys we are still alive.....nothing else much to say". On top of all of this you pretty much slap us across the face by running Legengs of Grimrock kickstarter, having all of these livestreams going on and Q&A's etc.....where the F*$% did you get all of this "extra energy" from that you SHOULD have been directing at making sure your Nuka backers were being taken care of. I even attempted to post on the Grimrock backer area (since like a moron I got suckered in by the cool looking dice) to try and see if I could even get a response there about Nuka-break.....I tried posting on your Facebook page.....both routes got me NOTHING!
If I had the ability to do it I would totally yank the small bit of funding I gave for Grimrock in a heart beat because even the thought that I actually gave Wayside any more of my money really leaves a nasty taste in my mouth and really....I don't think I can ever even look at the Nuka-break series the same (hell I havent even used the DVD since it showed up....its collecting dust on my dresser as we speak...the shirt I wear simply because its Falloutish and its black (favorite color) and even now I am thinking it will wind up stuffed in a drawer out of sight. I was speaking to my friends a few nights ago and we were talking about Kickstarter and to be very blunt....I used Wayside Creations and Nuka-Break season 2 kickstarter as the perfect example for back Kickstarters. Yes I know there are much worse ones out there that have taken peoples money and completely vanished but as I have no personal info on that.....this one works better when I talk about Kickstarter.
To end this little rant I just want to make two things pretty clear........1) I have already accepted and decided that Legends of Grimrock will be one of those kickstarters that I will push from my mind and when the email or whater shows up to confirm my address I will be shocked and then some day a few years down the road the dice might possibly show up in my mailbox and 2) I will NEVER.....i repeat NEVER give another dime to Wayside Creations, I don't care what game world they use or what celebrities/game devs they get to support them and I will make sure to pass along to all my friends to do the same.
Ok....maybe its not exactly the end of my rant but I would like to put a little bit of sympathy in here to all those backers not in the US (since so far it sounds like US residents are the only ones to have really gotten anything physical reward-wise) and say I really feel bad for you guys, not because you dont have an awesome DVD or a sweet t-shirt in hand...but simply because you are pretty much stuck with pie on your face right now, wondering if you will ever get what was promised to you. I just hope your experience with this project doesnt sour you towards other projects where you are an international backer (because there ARE amazing kickstarters out there...dont lose hope).
If there's a less than wholly positive response from backers, please try to remember that your decisions have fostered it.
You chose to offer the physical perks, based in no small part from backer responses, to get
us to put our cash into your project. You're still doing it with Grimrock. And like your newer project, those physical rewards have shipping dates. If you figured that backers would not care if they were honoured in the year claimed, you should have said so upfront - but we both know that this would have significantly reduced the pledges.
It's not coincidental that some of us like me are long out of the mythical patience you keep referring to in your very occasional missives, nor that the gross disparity between publicly stated shipping dates for same and the failure to follow through on delivering them has left some of us rather unimpressed and doubtful as to your capacity or interest in doing so. No one is stopping you from keeping in regular and clear contact with your backers, and no one stopped you from fulfilling your obligation to meet your public commitments to us in the time frame we agreed to. Most recently, a week between updates became a month, and a
comprehensive update became a few photos sent by two backers. It doesn't inspire confidence or allay fears.
You made that choice, and it was the wrong one. Yet even now, you say it's hard to follow
through, things take time. Are we to believe you are this inept, that it's purely down to
incompetence rather than design? You're over a year late but maybe we shouldn't gripe
because it's only another seven months until Christmas?
Overpromising and underdelivering, is far less satisfactory than underpromising and
overdelivering. Or heck, just doing what you said you'd do. And in either case, being up front with us all through the process. You really don't seem able or willing to see that, which is no way to run a railroad, to say nothing of a film company or fan-driven franchise based on another party's famous IP.
I note that yes, a few dribs and drabs of folk have mentioned they've received the odd disc
or suchlike. (No one from Canada, Australia, Northern Europe, as far as I can see. Perhaps
foreigners are the truly forgotten backers?) But it's very piecemeal and hardly sufficient to put anyone's mind at ease.
That Chris Avellone got his, as a backer and valued guest participant, is right and proper and a relief yet nonetheless embarrassing that he has been kept waiting all this time like the rest of us. But in light of the lousy lack of communication and broken agreements it may give the impression that this is a PR stunt by WC to quieten those backers who understandably feel overlooked, rather than a deserved gift from all of us to a guy for whom Fallout fans feel a very SPECIAL appreciation.
Offering Nuka Break Season sets as physical perks for Grimrock backers when the people who funded it are still without copies seems a bit shabby, to be honest. There's also the t-
shirt design switcheroo, where it was inexplicably decided that a chibi-style logo artwork
was much more representative of the wholly un-Japanese post-apocalyptic Americana
retrofuturism of the Fallout milieu and Nuka-verse in particular, than the striking yet subtle original design we liked and saw discarded without a word.
And there's other things, too.
Given you guys aren't the only young filmmakers in town, and certainly not the only ones
interested in or capable of realizing the engaging worlds of possibility offered by the
Fallout franchise, telling backers that "aww shucks, we don't make any profit as it's not
our IP, cut us a break" seems daft. We both knew that going in, and you got more than twice what you asked for. That you used the funds raised to boost the profile of WC, and gained a few trophies for your work on Nuka Break Season 2 is not in dispute because we also both knew that a good job on it would garner you plaudits that could potentially be turned to commercial and creative advantage in other ways. And that's exactly how it should be. You deserve bright futures, and I'm sure you're on your way.
The problem as I see it is how you've dealt with us to get there, and I remain very dissatisfied by that.
Positive comments on Facebook and Youtube are free. Money isn't. We both know this, else there would have been no need for a Kickstarter for Nuka Break Season 2.
You gave public undertakings for cash, you didn't deliver all of them when you said you would and you kept your backers in the dark far longer than was sensible. These choices were wholly your own, and being unhappy about them is perfectly understandable.
Indeed, it might even make Bethsoft wonder if WC's higher but regrettably self-tarnished profile is something altogether beneficial to be associated with, even indirectly.

To those of you who haven’t, we appreciate your patience. We’d like to respond to any negative remarks we’ve received in messages or seen in comments: Unfortunately, the series release delay directly impacted our ability to produce and distribute perks, most of which relied on the series being complete to deliver (DVDs, Blu-rays). All the perks are being produced and packaged in-house. We have a high standard for quality, and just like we would never release a film before it’s finished, we also would never send out perks that aren’t ready. Our process includes editing together hundreds of hours of behind-the-scenes footage, creating DVD menus, burring DVDs and Blu-rays, etc. The process does take an incredible amount of time. We have allocated the majority of our energy toward working on the project rather than communication, and for that we do apologize. We’ve taken an important lesson on balance away from this campaign. We are still working hard to finish delivering perks to our backers and close out the Kickstarter. In the interim, rest assured that the perks you were promised will be delivered.
@Paul yeah I saw that show up on their facebook page. My immediate response was "WTF? Your kidding me right?" It kind of ridiculous since they had all these issues with Season 2....and they are already working on Legends of Grimrock.....and they are going to attempt to what....start season 3 at the same time? I guess anyone that backs that should expect to see any kind of return on their investment in oh.......5 years?

This might be the first such action, but it won't be the last. I'd hate to think that backers for Nuka Break Season 2 will still be waiting on their physical perks long after Season 3 airs. In that event, Washingtonians fed up with the silence, disinterest and tricksy behaviour that has been their lot might seek redress via the legal system.
Batting one's eyes and saying all funds went into the production and the talent work for free so communication and commitments to backers re perks are less important than backers coughing up the cash for them to spend cuts absolutely no ice with me! :-(
@Paulthegrouch I can second your feelings....the complete lack of communication of this project has pretty much made me come to the conclusion I will not be backing Wayside for a season 3, pretty much throughout the entire process we got a lot of "we will give an update this week" and 5 months later we might actually get some kind of info. This right here pretty much proves what I am saying "We'll have a comprehensive update next week" and instead we get an update A MONTH later saying that rewards have started shipping (and this was AFTER people were already receiving their rewards like a week or so prior). I don't think people are expecting like 24/7 contact and information but when you say you will be giving an update in a week.....give an update in a week (especially when the project has already been called out NUMEROUS times for communication failures/issues.
Happily I prefer the new shirt over the original, but I agree with the other backers here that communication throughout the life of this kickstarter has honestly been one of the worst.

Nonetheless, we're well past a year overdue on shipping of those promised items. They chose the dates, then didn't meet them. I see no reason to give them a pass on that, or their less than stellar ability to communicate with backers.
Last update came 3 weeks late, and it contained nothing "comprehensive" as promised, and instead shows that the shirt we were expecting was changed without even so much as a consultation with the people who paid for it.
They've changed the design to something dull that not a few of us dislike and which was nothing at all like the one we were shown. No dialogue, just a bait and switch. Not a nice thing to do with other people's money and good will, over a year past the ship date.
It also doesn't give me much confidence in their ability/desire to manage this side of their business, which is not the way to retain and grow direct funding. Right now I would be unlikely to pledge to any new project from Wayside Creations, because of the reasons cited above. They seem technically competent filmmakers, which is why I was eager to support them in the first place, but they also seem to me to be lousy at treating their backers with due regard and in meeting deadlines. Maybe less easy money would help them with that.
Nope, didn't go for the Pipboy. I don't think we're taken for granted. It's a very big project and creating, signing, packing and sending that stuff all over the world is gonna take some time. I was just checking because I order stuff from the US all the time and sometimes customs adds an import tax on my products, which gets it delayed.
I got the T-Shirt (which is cool) but not the signed DVD for season 2. Are they being sent separately?

Well, it is a t-shirt, one size too small and nothing like the prototype...as an additional bonus, the 'mini movie poster' was nicely crumpled and creased in the envelope along with it. I am not sorry I backed the project, but I did expect better perks...or at least better packaging so that my oh-so-valuable signed poster was not a useless wad of paper. Oh well...
