The Ultimate Format For Fine Comic Art
This beautiful 12"X17" oversized hardcover features complete stories scanned from P. Craig Russell's stunning original art! While appearing to be in black & white, each page has been scanned in color to recreate as closely as possible the experience of viewing the actual original art—including blue pencils, notes, art corrections and more. Pages are reproduced at original size on heavy paper stock to provide fans, aficionados and collectors with the best possible reproductions. The book includes the following complete stories:
- Salome (32 pages)
- The Clowns (Pagliacci) (34 pages)
- Cavalleria Rusticana (The Godfather's Code) (33 pages)
In addition to these stories, this special Fine Art Edition includes artist's notes with background info on each story as well as a Bonus Gallery with additional art and preliminary drawings that relate to the complete stories. The book's final page count is estimated to be approximately 120 pages.
About The Artist
A graduate of the University of Cincinnati with a degree in painting, P. Craig Russell has run the gamut in comics. After establishing a name for himself at Marvel on Killraven and Dr. Strange, he went on to become one of the pioneers who opened new vistas for this underestimated field with, among other works, adaptations of operas by Mozart (The Magic Flute), Strauss (Salome) and Wagner (The Ring of the Nibelung). Russell is also known for his Fairy Tales of Oscar Wilde series as well as his graphic novel adaptations of Neil Gaiman’s The Sandman: The Dream Hunters, Coraline, Murder Mysteries and American Gods.
Three Beautifully-Illustrated Tales of Music and Murder
Based on the Oscar Wilde play, Salome decadently contrasts spiritual and physical virtue. Russell channels Aubrey Beardsley's original illustrations while giving the story his own spin.
The Clowns (Pagliacci)
PCR teams with Galen Showman (JLA: Age of Wonder, The Graveyard Book) to adapt one of theatre's greatest tales of betrayal, adultery, and murder. Taken from the Italian opera I Pagliacci, this gorgeous adaptation tells the story of a group of traveling performers driven against each other by conflicting desires, leading to a startling and bloody conclusion.
The Godfather's Code (Cavalleria Rusticana)
Cavallieria Rusticana is another story of cuckoldry—it contrasts a vengeance-fueled murder with the bright and sunny rebirth of an Easter morning.

Risks and challenges
Because of their size and weight, our Fine Art Editions must ship via USPS Priority Mail to all non-US customers, which is expensive. Keep in mind that we lose a substantial percentage of what customers pay for shipping before we even see those funds due to Kickstarter and PayPal fees. Plus, there are additional costs for heavy-duty outer boxes, bubble wrap, shipping peanuts, etc. Because of this, we are actually partially subsiding foreign shipping ourselves because we have to make up the difference in what is lost due to those fees and the costs of shipping supplies.
That said, we greatly appreciate our foreign backers and we hope that you will understand why the international shipping is so expensive. Especially in the case of the 5+ pound Fine Art Editions, International Priority is pretty much our only option to get the books to you safely and securely.
Also, orders shipped outside of the United States will almost always be charged customs fees when they arrive. These fees may include taxes, duties, processing fees, brokerage fees, etc. We have no control over the amount or assessment of these fees. If you are not familiar with the customs laws and fees in your country, please check with your local customs office for more information.
It is possible that the delivery of your order could be delayed due to customs processing. If your order does not arrive in a reasonable amount of time, you should check with your local customs office to see if they are holding the package for payment of fees.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
