About this project
Warms for Moms
Your mom is a special woman. And she deserves a special gift for Mother's Day.
We're not saying flowers or an email aren't nice but they're, well, kinda boring, predictable, and forgettable.
Instead, what if she received a package in the mail (yes, old-fashioned post) in the days leading up to May 13th?
Imagine her intrigue when she finds inside it a small wooden box with a wrap that says "Someone's thinking of you and sent this mystery gift!".
And picture her smile when upon unwinding the string clasp and opening the box lid a cute little plush character pleasantly emerges, holding a (fabric) FLOWER or HEART and wishing her "Happy Mother's Day".
There's a unique code and a URL under the box lid. Just think of the joy she'll feel when it reveals a video of you (perhaps with your siblings or children) telling her how much she means to you.
That would be an amazing gift! And mom would talk about it for months.
Our goal with Warms is to send smiles. We do this by catering to curiosity, extending the unboxing experience, and embedding you - the giver - in the gift item itself by using the incredibly emotional medium of personalized video.
We also have a few card designs - #1MOM, MOM INK, and WARM SMILE - to choose from, if you'd prefer something simpler than the box.

A card (A6 size, single-panel) would similarly be sent by mail and would also include a secret code linking to a private video. (Try it yourself: go to getwarms.com and enter the code Z8D29KA8.)
I was inspired by my mother to create Warms. Since prototyping it we've received tremendously positive feedback from those who've received one.
Plan ahead this year and send your mom something different and fun for Mother's Day. If the project surpasses its goal we'll reach out to pledgers in April inviting them to submit their recipient's mailing address and to upload a video (that part's up to you, of course). We'll then make the box or card, associate it with your video, and send it out to arrive the week of May 7th. Your pledge to this project will help us cover material, production, and mailing costs.

We're focusing initially on the US and Canada, and the pledge amounts reflect postal/shipping costs to those two countries. However, send us a message telling us where your mother (the addressee) is located and we'll let you know if we can deliver before May 13 and, if so, how much extra to add to your pledge amount.
Yes. Ideally she'll have a computer or mobile phone with a web browser and internet connection. This way she can enter the unique code found in the box or on the card and watch your video message to her. The box/card is not signed with your name; that's only revealed during the online part.
If/when this Kickstarter project tips by surpassing its goal, those who've pledged will receive an email with a private link. From there you'll be able to record or upload your video message, write a short note, and enter the destination mailing address.
Sure, no problem. We can send it later in May or June if you'd prefer.
The Warms box is made of paulownia, a very light, fine-grained, and warp-resistant wood ideal for decorative boxes. Among its environmental characteristics, Paulownia is extremely fast growing and regenerates quickly from its existing root structure.
