Last summer, your overwhelming support for the return of The Fantasy Trip led to the creation of a much larger new edition of the game than any of us expected. Over 3,000 of you pledged over $300,000 to the new edition of the game, and we're doing everything possible at the Steve Jackson Games office to make the project launch as smooth -- and incredible! -- as we can manage.
As of the start of this new campaign, The Fantasy Trip Legacy Edition is completing assembly at the factory and will be loaded onto a shipping container in the next few weeks. The game then makes the long journey to our fulfillment warehouse in Michigan, where rewards wlll then be packaged and shipped to all of you who supported the campaign last summer.
Now that the core experience is completed, one of the most-requested additions to The Fantasy Trip is new adventures. To date, we've released two new adventures in PDF at Warehouse 23, and your favorable response to those two adventures has our team working to create even more . . . but we find that we need your help to take these adventures from their current form to release.
The next adventure, Fire in the Temple by David Pulver, is almost completed and ready to release at Warehouse 23 while the two other new adventures are in editing. Additionally, we're at the earliest planning stages for five more adventures, but we need to gauge interest in these adventures before we devote more resources to the project. We think that many of you are looking forward to these adventures; this Kickstarter campaign lets us determine whether or not we can make the adventure project even larger than we had first planned.
With two adventures already released, a third nearing completion, and more in the works, what is this campaign funding? Two things:
1. The art, layout, and editorial work necessary to complete the still-in-progress adventures.
2. The creation of a printed collection of the first five adventures, shrinkwrapped with the counter and megahex sheets that are included in the PDF adventures.
After releasing the first two adventures, we heard your request for more printed counters and megahexes, and this campaign meets that demand. Those of you who enjoy DIY projects can stick to the PDF rewards, but everyone who is looking for ready-to-play game components is encouraged to select the $30 reward level to receive the printed book and die-cut components.
After the Kickstarter project closes, and after all pledges are collected, we will open the BackerKit pledge manager. There, you will tell us your Warehouse 23 email address, provide your physical address, and pay for shipping (if you are receiving physical rewards). See the FAQ for estimated shipping costs.
Please note that any taxes or customs fees are exclusively your responsibility, and these fees will be determined when the shipment arrives in your country. We also cannot guarantee that an order will not be confiscated or rejected by your country's customs.
If you wish, you may choose to use a fulfillment service. This allows you to pledge for the project and then provide us with a U.S. address for delivery of your rewards. Forwarding from the fulfillment service, as well as any local fees, is your responsibility when using a fulfillment company.
Risks and challenges
Steve Jackson Games is an established game publisher with a successful track record and we have enough Kickstarter experience to deal with issues should they arise. The creative team has been selected and we've started work on writing the adventures. Now it's time for you to tell us whether or not to complete the project. As we've done in the past, we will stay in touch with our backers during and after the Kickstarter, all the way through fulfillment of the rewards.
Please note that the April 2019 delivery date is an estimate for PDF delivery. Any physical rewards will be delivered starting in August 2019. Additionally, backers in some regions may receive their rewards before others; the games will be shipped to the United States where they will be packed for individual shipments and then, in some instances, forwarded to partners in other nations for final fulfillment.
