A prototype is a preliminary model of something. Projects that offer physical products need to show backers documentation of a working prototype. This gallery features photos, videos, and other visual documentation that will give backers a sense of what’s been accomplished so far and what’s left to do. Though the development process can vary for each project, these are the stages we typically see:

The management of the climate, the light and the nutrition are the key factors to succeed in hydroponic plant growing. As a hobbyist hydroponic grower and working as an electronic engineer, I am used to create many different devices that measure and act on my growing system.
As soon as I created a measurement system that collected all data and sent them to my smartphone, I realized how convenient it was. It helped me optimize my grow and improve my daily routine of monitoring all the variables in order to keep my plants healthy. And as my team and I have the experience and the machinery necessary to design, test and produce such a device, I decided to create the Egrowr out of this experience...
The Egrowr is meant to be a complete, connected, simple and affordable way to monitor your plants growing hydroponically.

We will release compatible wireless plug-and-play pump and relay modules to control the environment in the future for sure. The Egrowr will be the backbone for a whole plant growing ecosystem.
Instant connection. Just open the mobile app, it will automatically connect to the Egrowr whether you are at home (local mode) or outside (cloud mode).

Configure the Cloud mode and access data and full range graphs everywhere. You can still connect to the Egrowr through WiFi or readmeasurements on the Egrowr's screen.
Ensure your Egrowr stays on your home WiFi network only. Access your data and daily graphs as soon as your smartphone is connected to your home WiFi access point. You can still read measurements on the Egrowr's screen.
Connect directly your smartphone to the Egrowr’s access point and access your data and daily graphs in the WiFi range of the Egrowr.
Switch the WiFi module off and read the measurement on the Egrowr's screen directly.
Easy wifi configuration. Use the WPS button on your router to configure the WiFi easily without any password to enter. You can also configure the WiFi through the mobile app by directly connecting you smartphone to the Egrowr. (Check the Prototype Gallery for demo)
The Egrowr automatically re-connects itself to WiFi access point and to the Cloud server in case of a broken connection.
All transmitted data are encryptedwith military grade AES 256 bits and RSA 2048 bits algorithms
The WiFi module uses WPA2/PSK security key which is the most secured standard at the moment.
No personal data are linked to the measurement stored in the data base, not even your IP or e-mail address. No log with personal data are saved.
Connection / disconnection notification. Get notified instantly if your device loses connection to the server because of a WiFi or a power breakdown.
Thanks to the magnetic fixations for the tank probes and device, you can setup your system wherever your want in a non-invasive way (without screws or nails).

As we fight programmed obsolescence, all probes have a jack connector and are easily replaceable.
Screen and LEDs automatically switch off to prevent light pollution for plants that need a dark period to grow properly.
The Egrowr can by powered by any USB power supply with 750mA capacity like the included USB wall plug, a power bank or a computer. A power bank that can be charged while delivering power can be used as a backup battery for exemple.
All units are available: temperature (Celsius / Fahrenheit) and EC mS/cm or in ppm (500, 650, 700)
We will continuously work to improve the user experience. Updatable firmware and mobile app allows us to quickly add new features.
Egrowr is compatible with all pH probes on the market with a BNC connector.
We specially designed the EC probe with temperature compensation and 4 external titanium electrodes that are easy to clean and ensure a low measurement drift even with slime and dirt. Entirely sealed in epoxy resin, it's solid and durable.
The climate probe is based on the accurate and reliable DHT22 probe that measures the temperature and the relative humidity.
The light sensor situated on the front of the Egrowr measures the light intensity in Lux. Place the Egrowr in the growbox halfway between the light and the top of the plants to get a reliable light measure.

You choose the pH probe reward on the campaign and we will add it to your Egrowr bundle. This pH probe will be tested before shipping to you to make sure it’s functional. However, we repeat that pH probes don’t travel well, and so we are not responsible if you receive it malfunctioning.
The annual Cloud subscription includes :

Backers will be able to customize the length of the EC and climate probe cable to fit the best their installation. A simple 3.5mm stereo jack extension works perfectly as well.
We will 3D print all the Egrowr plastic components and enclosure for the first production batch. It allows us to keep the campaign goal low and ensure an effective and quick production start after the end of the campaign. Our manufacturing capacity is about 100 units per month.
The small 3D printed components like the magnet holders won't be post processed, so they will have the 3D printed look-and-feel. However, the enclosure will be post processed and will look like it was produced using injection plastic technique. However some cosmetic defects due to the 3D printing process can remain on the enclosure.
The Egrowr enclosure is produced with ASA. A plastic composite similar to ABS but with a much higher resistance to UV light and harsh weather conditions. It will last for years in a growbox event with a powerful light.
We also want to continuously improve the mobile app and the firmware of the Egrowr to add more features. For example, we plan to add information on when to calibrate your EC probe or on whether the pH probe needs to be replaced. We also plan to add a PPAR and DLI calculator among other features.

Risks and challenges
Most of the risks and challenges are behind us. Our team is composed of experienced people working in the electronic and product design industries. Some of them are hydroponic plant growers for more than 6 years, so there is no improvisation here. We designed, prototyped and tested the Egrowr over the last 18 month.
The production line was tested and is ready to release up to 100 units per month. We will acquire more production machines if needed in case of massive demand.
The Egrowr complies with EU and US electronics device regulation (“CE” and “FCC”).
We have chosen widely available components that can be ordered from different sources, so the risk of component shortage is low.
The iOS mobile app needs to be finished. As the Android app is already done, it will be easy to implement the same on Apple’s platform.
