Men are in trouble.
They lag behind women 4 to 3 in obtaining a college degree. Men are increasingly absent in the home. A large swath of working age men have disappeared from the labor force. Men are 3.5 times more likely to commit suicide than women. Society tells a man a million different versions as to what he should be and what he should not be.
Men are understandably confused. Surely you've noticed.
We have been outsourced. We wonder if we’re even needed anymore. We can put food on our table by pressing buttons and we don’t need to fight. We have grown soft and aimless. We wonder as we wander. We are starving spiritually.
We don't need to file masculine bankruptcy. There is a way forward - a way filled with clarity, strength, and hope. There is a foundation of stone to set our feet upon. He is the Cornerstone and - he has much to say.
I have some questions for you, men:
- Do you long to live life with Jesus?
- Do you want to end the confusion, form your identity, and forge your manhood?
- Do you want to throw your insecurities off a cliff?
- Do you want to look your fears in the face?
- Do you want to put a bullet in the head of your idols?
Good. This book is for you.
Ten years ago I sat down with a cup of coffee and two great men – my dad and my uncle – to begin the research process for this book. Over the past decade, I have read, studied, and observed the commonalities among strong, godly men. God has richly blessed me with an abundance of outstanding men to learn from, and I have taken notes. He has used the past decade to prepare me to open my mouth. It is now my intention to share what I have learned.
I am a regular guy who loves to write. Someone once told me to find the thing I can't not do - for me that's writing. I believe words have the power to change lives.
I know they've changed mine.
It took me a while to allow myself to pursue writing. Actually, I'm not really sure it was me that set things into motion. In 2015 I felt a strong call from God to write a book on the connection of faith and work. My work and my relationship with Jesus were not connected, and this caused me angst. Angst is good for writing, so despite a lot of insecurity, I starting stringing words together. I launched Walking Through Walls: Connecting Faith and Work in late 2015.
I am the host of The Manifesto Podcast, which is a short, punchy podcast aimed at helping men live full lives under the kingship of Jesus. There, as with Show Yourself a Man (and all of my projects), I am not the example - but I do hope to be a guide.

Risks and challenges
If I die in the next month or so, maybe the book won't get published. Even if I did, I'm sure one of you would make it happen. Sorry - morbid jokes.
The only risk I see with this project is if I fail to communicate Biblical, orthodox truth. I am a fallible man and I need your prayer to cover me on this journey.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
