Hello and welcome!
First, I’m glad you’re here. Thanks for taking the time to click the link, and hopefully watch the video above. I’m delighted to have finally finished this book… and I can’t WAIT to share it with you!
If you're a quick mover like me, watch the video above and help me help 10,000 women take the world (and the Conscious Capitalism community) by storm by making a donation at right level for you, on the right – you'll get some awesome gifts in return!
If you like to take your time and thoughtfully consider what you support, allow me to introduce myself (and this project) in greater detail...
I'm LeeAnn Mallorie, founder of Leading in Motion.
I’ve been working with executive and high potential female leaders for over a decade now, and I’ve seen time and time again that it’s often the most innovative women (women who have the potential to truly transform their fields and their organizations!) who end up feeling stuck – stuck in mid-level roles were their genius is underutilized… stuck in executive roles where they’re the only woman at the table, and the men on their team still don’t quite get it... stuck choosing between their gut instincts and the party line.
The sad thing is that many of these women end up leaving the industry, or simply feeling resentful and failing to maximize their own potential. Sometimes it’s for the better, and once they leave, good things happen for them... fast. But often, it leaves an imprint on their hearts, and makes it take longer for them to actualize their potential. When that happens, it’s the company's loss, the industry's loss, and a loss for the world.
Maybe that woman is you... Or someone you mentor... Or someone in your personal life that you know and love…
Personally, I happen to believe that it’s these very same women who hold the keys to a new paradigm of leadership – one that will re-write policies, innovate more consciously, right social injustices and even save our planet. I believe that our deeper wisdom and gut-level knowing have the power to show the way… if only we listen.
And that’s why I wrote this book.
Here's What the Book is About:
Wake Up Call: A Woman’s Guide to New Paradigm Leadership is the culmination of 12 years of work coaching and training women leaders to tap into the wisdom of their bodies. These women (women like you!) learn to break through what feels like a glass ceiling, by making internal shifts that fully align them with their greatest possibility for impact. And when they do, the world shows up to meet them.
My clients have turned burnout into ignition, learned to trust their gut, received unprecedented promotions, challenged the status quo, stopped feeling crazy, and fallen in love with themselves again. They are making an impact in healthcare, in finance, in tech, in education, in the government and in the non-profit sector.
The goal of this book – first and foremost – is to offer a roadmap for innovative women who want to lead the way... with out burning out.
The book is organized into four sections: Embody, Empower, Activate and Inspire – which take the readers on a coherent journey to develop a more conscious, sustainable and thriving leadership approach.
It covers themes like:
- Building resilience and catalyzing your deepest longings to support effective, mission-driven innovation.
- Working with your feminine genius, rather than against it, while integrating both masculine and feminine leadership skills.
- Accessing the natural, inner resources that fuel you, and building a reliable buffer to burnout.
- Transforming the feeling of overwhelm and doing more of the things that matter most – both at home and at work.
- Ending the unconscious patterns of self-sabotage that keep you playing small and raise your personal glass ceiling from the inside out.
- Connecting with your greatest leadership superpower – your own gut instinct – and learning to lead compellingly while trusting your gut.
- Developing a personal compass that will guide your purpose, and move you toward your most impactful, meaningful work.
Each chapter is packed with practical mindfulness and embodiment practices you can do at home. These practices build resilience, enhance your presence and help to level-up your leadership approach.
Vision for the Book:
My goal is to reach 10,000 women with this book, so that their visionary ideas, and untapped potential, can help us make a real shift in the culture of business across the globe. I want to see the day when these women change the course of big sticky problems like global poverty, and climate change. And while there’s much to do on the systemic level to pave the way for their voices to be heard, my work is about liberating women on the inside, so that they can fully show up when the external world is ready to meet them (and, of course, help to steward systemic change, through the actions they take today!)
The good news is... the book has already been selected for publication by the new Conscious Capitalism Press in early 2019 (https://www.consciouscapitalism.org/imprint). And, it's already written!
So we're basically ready to go.
The challenge is... because they are a brand new printing house with a hybrid printing model, I will still be responsible for the majority of fees that cover design, layout, editing, printing, publishing and eventually marketing the book.
Let's Talk about Money For a Minute...
I've put together a budget detailing the costs for publication and launch (shared above), which I'm fundraising for here.
What most people don't know is how those costs stack up against the payoff an author receives from writing and producing a book. In my case, the printing model looks like this:
When the book is finally done, I'll eventually receive 33.3% royalties on the sale of what will likely be a $20 book - which amounts to about $2.50-3.50 per book, after production and distribution. I can also purchase books to give a way for free, or sell on my own, for about $10 (50%) of cost to purchase.
Overall, these numbers look better than the traditional publishing industry in the long run... BUT authors who go that route incur far fewer up-front publishing costs (and are often paid an advance for their up-front work to produce the manuscript).
In my case, in terms of up-front investment, it's taken about 250 hours of dedicated writing time to get the book manuscript to where it is today. This MIGHT be why authors say that writing a book is a labor of love...
And THIS is why I need your help!
Choosing to publish with Conscious Capitalism, rather than pursuing a traditional publisher, is a values-driven choice. I believe in their mission. I also have noticed that there are fewer women than men on their national stages, and I believe that a book on women's leadership is right for their audience, at this moment in time.
Your donation will make it possible for Wake Up Call – a book that uniquely supports women – to be one of the first books published by the new CC Press this year.
My greatest joy is using the vehicles of embodiment and mindfulness to help women bring their full creativity, innovation, and impact to their work. I would love to help the women leading the most Conscious Companies in the world do the same.
Would you be willing to help make that possible, by making a donation to our Kickstarter fund?
Your donation of any level comes with TWO GIFTS:
First, you will receive a unique GIFT of support, including copies of the book itself and other cool perks, like virtual programs, coaching circles and live training opportunities – which you can keep or gift to a woman who needs it!
(See the sidebar for details on these gifts. For more info, you can hear some of my clients talk about the value of my coaching and programs HERE and HERE. Note: most gifts except for the group coaching circle can be enjoyed by both men and women).
But the second GIFT you receive is far greater... by supporting this book you get to be part of a tribe that is creating a grassroots movement to steward new paradigm leadership and create a wave of transformation in business across the globe.
My commitment to you is that I will keep you posted about the evolution of this movement from today forward, and make sure that you get all of the resources you need to bring your own awesome vision into form.
I do have one more very specific request:
If it’s within your financial capability to do so, would you consider making a donation at the highest level you are able? My dream is that 100 supporters, giving at least $150, will back this project, in order to help me birth this work... and help women leaders take the Conscious Capitalism community by storm.
If that’s not doable for you, no worries! I’m happy to receive any type of contribution you’d like to make, including words of encouragement and spreading the word to your tribe, via email or social media.
But if $150 or above is in range, it will go a long way toward helping me reach 10,000 women this year.
Thanks for taking the time to read this note. And many blessings!
Risks and challenges
More good news! Because this project is already well underway, there are few risks involved in backing it.
As I mentioned above, the book is already written. And, it's been selected for publication by the new Conscious Capitalism Press in early 2019 (https://www.consciouscapitalism.org/imprint), so we already know how it's going to make its way into the world. CCPress is supported by the creative team at Round Table Companies (https://roundtablecompanies.com/). That means we already have excellent designers, layout specialists and editors ready to make it great, as soon as we say go.
The biggest uncertainty on this project is the exact timeline of the launch. Depending on the level of editing required, we're looking at as early as Jan/Feb and as late as June (with a most plausible launch date somewhere in between).
Our primary challenge at this stage is marketing. Given the big & audacious goal of getting the book into the hands of 10,000 women next year, there's a lot of work to do to build a solid platform and spread the word.
Should we exceed our funding goal, any additional resources will go directly toward hiring an additional marketing strategist and marketing admin support to ensure that we are able to get the book in the hands of as many women as we can, as early in 2019 as possible.
As soon as the funding is in place, we'll be diving right into production...
