Hi Backers,

We've now addressed all the issues that have arisen from your feedback from the RC1 (release candidate) build, and made a bunch of small improvements behind the scenes.  Now as far as we are aware all outstanding bugs from RC1 have been fixed, so here is RC2 - our second, and hopefully final, release candidate!

Please play test this version.  If no new bugs turn up in this round of beta testing, this is the version that will be released to the public as the final build!

There are no visible major changes; all modifications this time around have either been minor or behind the scenes, but here is the summary:

  • Most notable is the addition of a new sound device selection menu in the options menus, which should enable sound to work in even tricky situations such as under linux with Pulseaudio conflicting with Alsa. Don't forget to run the game from pasuspender if you're using Pulseaudio, which is the case with default Debian and Ubuntu based distributions.
  • The sound engine has had a number of behind-the-scenes improvements and optimisations, including a 16% improvement in CPU utilisation in the inner loop of the runtime mixer, provided by converting certain branched clamping operations to branchless SSE min and max intrinsics.
  • The sound engine stops and starts and reinitialises more robustly now.
  • A few more megacorp graphics have been added - Domestic Edible Deliveries, The Construct and The Narcotics Coop.

The only thing left to do before release is to add the remaining megacorp logo graphics. This is the last chance for Beta Testers to find any remaining bugs in the game before release - If we don't get any new bug reports, this version will be the final release candidate, released to the public next week!

As soon as the final version is complete, we'll start sending out the USB drives and other physical rewards, and shortly after that all game tier backers will get their download keys!
