The Volla Phone comes with a preinstalled Volla OS based on the Android Open Source Project. So you can use your banking app and other essential apps for your private and professional life. The Volla OS comes with an alternative store app to install the Android apps you need.
To protect the privacy of the users the Volla OS does not contain Google Apps and Play Services. Apps that require Google Play Services are not compatible. These are mainly payed apps or those that use the payment system of the Play Store. You are of course free to install the Play Services well as Google Apps.
As an alternative to Volla OS, a user can now also choose Ubuntu Touch as a pre-installed operating system. However, this does not allow you to install and run Android apps, but it comes with a store with more an more apps for popular services and frequent use cases.Last updated:
Security and data protection are complex topics. With the Volla Phone we have taken the first step on this path to offer consumers an alternative to Google and Apple.
Volla OS is based on the pure open source Android without Google Apps and Play Services to protect the users privacy. It does not have a dependency on a cloud or Volla account. Updates and security patches will be published over our OTA channel.
The Volla OS contains curated open source core apps that respect and protect your privacy. This includes a suitable browser that provides you with security. Current candidates are Firefox and Brave.
Last but not least you can optionally use a pre-installed VPN from our partner Hide.me, which is characterized by the fact that your internet activities are not logged.
A lot depends on your behaviour and which apps you install additionally. This applies, for example, to secure communication or file storage. We will continue to work on these topics to support our users.Last updated:
