About this project
The only professional VOCALOID music production company in the United States performing 3D CG concerts featuring VOCALOID characters.
Hi, my name is Tempo-P. I am the founder and VOCALOID Producer for Vocalekt Visions.
Today I want to share what's been a passion of mine for about 4 years. That is the phenomena called "VOCALOID."VOCALOIDS are sampled voice banks generally used by musicians for adding synthesized vocals to their musical compositions.
In 2011, I created Vocalekt Visions with my partner and co-founder NeutrinoP from Romania. We started by releasing albums using VOCALOIDS.
From there, a team started to develop around our music to create live concerts for the fan base in America.
Today we are asking for your assistance in allowing us to acquire better gear to produce an even more exhilarating and professional presentation. Up until now we've done a great deal by stretching our limited shoestring budget. But in order to get to the level we strive for in 2013 we are turning to our VOCALOID fandom for added support.
As the only professional VOCALOID music production company in the United States we want to strive to spread VOCALOID into America and into the world at a high quality standard. With your support I believe I and my team will achieve this goal.
Risks and challenges
Once the project is funded, we will purchase all the gear we need to provide the best VOCALOID show possible. We are shooting at becoming the best and it will take time and money to get everything together.
Our challenges include labor, purchasing gear at lowest costs, travel, creating professional grade animations, daily company expenses, booking gigs, licensing fees, and much more.
However our previous track records indicate that we will be able to overcome these obstacles. With half a dozen live concerts with some having over 500 people we believe that our team is strong and that our reason to succeed is even greater.
I guarantee that with your support we will be able to present bigger and better shows and execute them in a timely and professional manner.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
It’s probably a good idea to put up a breakdown on how the 50k will actually be spent, since it is a LOT of money.. ;p
$10,000 of the money will be spent on our new sound system. We are looking at a pair of QSC line array with sub woofers. Since our concerts are music based we will be putting high priorities on this.
$30,000 will be put towards multiple new Sanyo projectors that are pro-grade. Also, we'll be looking at getting a new screen. Our research has shown our fans love SEGA concerts. We'll be attempting to work with a rear projection glass screen and add improvements to create a better image than SEGA.
$10,000 will be spent towards marketing, licensing costs, costumes for our dancers, overall betterment of the Vocalekt Visions image, road cases to protect our investments, traveling costs and much more.
Isn't this considered profit? I heard rumors saying that Crypton Future Media/Internet.co will not allow you to make profits from doing shows.
Crypton Future Media has told us in our license agreement, we are able to break even with our promotions using their intellectual property. That being said, our 2011-2012 business expenses have cost close to $30,000. We're barely surviving on our shoe string budget, but we want to make a better show for the fans.
We buy our own equipment so we don't have to worry about rentals. We have contractors who love VOCALOID and who are getting paid out of my pocket. Really, they don't ask for anything, but I don't feel right asking professionals for free work.
We follow our license agreement with Crypton Future Media, Internet.co and other Vocaloid companies very closely. As renting gear will end up putting high profits, we do not follow this method.
Also, we train stage hands in house, so we need gear that is readily available and familiar to all of our technical staff. Professionals do better with equipment they have used countless times. We have multiple practices a month for putting up and breaking down our show, and we take our work seriously. If we mess up, we may lose fans.
Overall, we want to execute the best show we can, every single time. That's why we keep everything in-house.
We will be checking for venues all over the bay area, California. We'll try to get a site suitable for our majority fan base.
Once we raise the money, we'll try to team up with a convention to put on a VOCALOID centric event. If this proves unsuccessful, we will try to have it at the Hotel Kabuki, in Japan Town.
So with this money, will you be producing more concerts in varied areas of the U.S. along with trying to go out of country?
Ultimately, our end goal is yes! We believe that VOCALOID should be spread into the U.S. and other parts of the world. However, a world tour WILL NOT happen with just this Kickstarter.
As mentioned above, our Kickstarter is only meant to be used so we can perform better concerts, not necessarily used strictly to do more concerts overseas.
If anyone wants to book us however, we're open to talk. Tell your anime cons in your state or country that you love Vocalekt Visions! Send them an email asking them to book us. I'm sure we can work something out!
