Meet VITALI, the first smart garment that helps you achieve balance. Work with your body's rhythm, not against.
The Smart Bra comes with 4 skin friendly fabric sensors, with two colours and closure systems to choose from, in 6 sizes from 30AA to 42E.
The GEM is the mind behind VITALI. The powerful processor collects data from all sensors to understand your pattern to give you bio-feedback by gentle taps. When your body reacts, GEM notices it immediately.
Whether you are on the go, at work, practicing yoga or mediating, your wellness coach will guide you feel zen regardless of what you do.
VITALI is not a smart watch built inside a bra. The embedded fabric sensors measure ECG (electrocardiogram) directly from the heart and goes beyond an average wrist-based wearable. HRV (Heart Rate Variability) is a key physiological indicator of stress. When we start to get stressed, our HRV changes pattern. The GEM captures that pattern and reminds you at the right time, every time, to keep you from those stressful situations.
Not sure what size to get? Measure the band first (the area directly under your bust). Make sure the measuring tape is level and snug to get the best read. This reading is your band size, which is the top row of the chart. Next, measure the bust (the fullest part of your chest). The difference between the band and the bust measurement is your cup size. 1'' difference: A cup, 2'' difference: B cup, 3'' difference: C cup, etc.
We know our backers don't have a chance to try on VITALI before pledging, but want you to have peace of mind. It's simple: try it on at home, and if you think you could use a different size, ship it back to us and we will make it right
"I have really wide shoulders and a heavier bust. I was pleasantly surprised by how it’s not pulling on my shoulders, the seams are really comfortable. There are no points that are uncomfortable."
- Deidre, personal coach and yoga instructor
"My first impression is: it’s so comfortable. I love that all the seams are really smooth. I feel really snug and together, but nothing is too tight.”
-Genieve, Chiropractor and mamapreneur
“Amazingly comfortable. I have worked out in it - it is amazing”
-Lyndsay, Dental assistant
We've created 12 iterations of prototypes. Over the last 18 months, we went from a rough cut-out bra with wires sticking out to a fully designed smart garment. Countless late nights and weekends were dedicated to bring this product to life. We have a track record of involving early adopters in the development process. As a backer, we want to hear what you think of the design before it hits the product line. We value your opinion as a kickstarter backer and welcome you on board our journey to bring VITALI to live!
We couldn’t have done this alone! Thank you to our families and friends for supporting us since day one. We’ve crossed path with some of the most amazing people on this journey of searching for intuitive wellness. First and foremost, thank you HAX accelerator and The Next Big Thing for all your guidance and mentorship along the way. To Hootsuite and e@UBC for an environment to learn and grow in. We are so grateful to have a strong health and wellness community in Vancouver. A special thank you to Health in Alignment (Dr. Genieve Burley), Karma Teachers, the Hotbox Yoga, Dharma Movement Company and Moment Meditation for the support and inspiration. A special thank you to our amazing video crew Antony Bui, Dalton, Jin, and brand ambassadors Cassandra, Morgan and Rochelle for embodying VITALI. Thank you to our Structural Engineers Laura Hu and Peter Wang for the many iterations of design, Firmware Engineer Karl Edler, Biomechanical Engineer Louise Thomas, Software Engineer Marco Brieden, Electronics Consultant Donny, Industrial Designer Inder Sanchdev. To our PR team at Proper Propaganda, digital marketing team at Profile Studio, and to our direct response advertising agency Jellop Crowdfunding. Thank you to Raybaby, Mindset, VUE, Iris Automation, AVA, CARV, Boulder Denim, Kokoon, and many other startup founders for the moral support while running this campaign!
Risks and challenges
We want to make sure every detail of your VITALI Smart Bra is beautiful and make you fall in love. We are committed to delivering you a great product. Meanwhile, we will update you every step along the journey!
We also would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge some of the challenges to make sure our backers are fully aware of complexity of delivering an innovative product. Here are the most obvious risks:
The biggest challenge comes down to our backers receiving a bra that fits. There are many different body types, and to fit bodies as unique as each woman is a feat in itself. We’ve iterated and tested our patterns with over two dozen women that fall anywhere from a 30 AA to 42 DD, to ensure our design fit as many body as possible.
2. Supply chain logistics
Your smart bra is made of many custom parts across two industries: apparel and electronics. It’s possible that the manufacturer we are working with would run low on certain parts and hold up assembly. As you can imagine, we can’t build a product with missing pieces.
Since we are manufacturing electronics, there are various tests, including CE and FCC to pass. These test usually reveal problems that require redesign. Our current timeline takes testing into account. Since we are making wearables, we might be under scrutiny of the FDA. We fall into a class of devices that are “exempt” from most requirements by the FDA. However, we will need to source factories that are compliant with FDA standards to meet the guidlines.
Every company faces these challenges, but rarely do consumers see these challenges. Our biggest tool for battling these risks is having the experience developing prototypes with the supply chain directly, including working with contract manufacturers from the get-go. We know that building physical goods is a dynamic process with lots of room for hiccups along the way. We will keep an open dialogue with all of our backers through frequent, transparent, and thorough updates.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
