WHAT IS OUR BOOK ABOUT ?
VITAL FORCES – FOOD IN CONTEXT is a think tank about food culture as a cultural good in the past, present and future. It illuminates the connections of the diverse fields involved, such as art, sociology, philosophy, food ethics, biology, agriculture, science and the art of cooking.
The purpose of the publication VITAL FORCES – FOOD IN CONTEXT is to gather and document the results from our first years' research and discussions. The issue of food is one of the urgent matters in today's society. An increase of life-style diseases such as diabetes and cancer, and destructive, agricultural methods of food production call for attention.
The publication will give insights by experts from the related fields and the artists that were involved in our projects and events. Richly illustrated with photography and artistic contributions, the edition offers inspiring stories about food culture – from historic and contemporary perspectives.
Art becomes the language to communicate the results of today’s agile thinkers at the forefront of scientific, social and political research.
The project aims to inspire an open dialogue with focus on a problem solving approach, to break down complex knowledge and make it accessible to everyone.

Risks and challenges
It is our deepest wish to summarize and document all research we have done and gathered over the year, to share it and to give a tribute to all the artists and experts involved.
As experienced publishers, we can assure you that this project will be followed through in time. Our timeline is set on the more generous side, considering possible delays with content production and editing. Half of all text content has been sent, photography and art work are ready for print.
The book will have about 80 pages with color illustrations inside.
By pledging in advance for 1 or more copies, you are supporting the printing of your own copy. If we exceed our financial goal additional books will get printed to distribute for educational purposes, like schools and universities, and if there are still leftover funds, we will use them for the project VITAL FORCES think tank No. 2.
