We're sailing north...

Dear friends and supporters,

time flies... we all know it from our very lives. Time runs like an antelope, especially when you are a developer and hundreds of fans wait for you to release a game. We know it's not easy to wait. We also know that some of you are longing for another update. Here it comes...

Current Status

We're standing in the middle of the road. To our left, in the far distance, we see a small place with fading lights. This is where we started... with long office nights, many team meetings, and the campaign on kickstarter. To our right, we already see our destination - Nova Scotia, the Mystery of Oak Island. We can tell that our goal is already on the horizon. There’s still a long way to go, but we have achieved a lot in the last couple of months.

Our original plan was to release the first of three chapters at the end of 2016. Looking back, we now know that this would have been doable. Then, with last year’s September update we changed the plan and announced to release the complete game all at once, because we want to give you the whole story. We still think this was the right decision, because this will allow you to play and enjoy the complete adventure without having to wait in between each episodes.

We already created about 35 rooms this year. The complete game will have about 70 rooms in total, and as of now there are roughly 10-15 rooms where the design is still missing. This is what we are currently focussing on.

Have a look to some of the finished rooms:

Characters and Dialogues

Besides room design and programming we also make good progress with the game's characters. We always invest a lot of time into details like clothing. What do you think of these guys? :)

Let there be music...

Luigi Maria Rapisarda, our musician, created many new orchestral music tracks and sound sceneries for the game. Here you can listen to one of the latest ones:

There is also a new, German interview with Luigi, which you can find here:

Being at Gamecom in Cologne

We leapt at the opportunity to join Gamescom in Cologne. For the very first time we presented some gameplay scenes to adventure game fans and developers. Furthermore, we had interviews with game magazines and blogs like "Adventure Treff" and "Adventure Corner". We are happy that we got great feedback and seem to be on the right way.

Engine News and Particles

We're busy reworking and enhancing our game engine "Visionaire Studio". Over the last few months we have been building a complete new game editor and also created a brand new particle system. With particles we can create thrilling effects (like explosions) and as well events like rain, fog, and fire.

Visionaire Studio enables you to create an adventure game, all by yourself. Over the few last years, Visionaire has become one of the leading game engines and technical bases for several award-winning adventure game productions. Read everything about it on www.visionaire-studio.net. We also provide a free version, so check it out.

We are always happy for additional pre-orders via Paypal. Pre-orders give us an additional budget, which we need to provide voices, further improvements, and more content. Please support us, and tell your friends to pre-order the game via www.oakisland-game.com

Thank you for your support and all the best to you and your families! :)

@Geoff: Thanks for your question. At the moment we are in the middle of everything and it's really hard to think about the release date. We also don't know how long it will take to find voice actors, do the voice recordings and render all the videos. But 2017 may be right, yes ;)

So, would you say the new ETA is end of 2017?

Looking great! Thanks for the update, and as always, do take your time to properly realise your creative vision. We'll all enjoy the more for that.

Thanks for the update! Looks great. :) And yeah, please take your time. Better to have it when it's done than on some arbitrary date decided upon early in development.

Hmm, looks like I'm going to have to brush up on my German!
Seriously, though, take the time you need to get it right. This isn't running nearly as late as a lot of digital game Kickstarters I've signed up for. The one thing I would ask is at least a minimal "yeah we're still alive" update every 4 weeks or so.
