Scott Slapin has written several works for viola and viola ensembles. This summer, the Slapin-Solomon Viola Duo will be recording them (covering all viola parts) for a brand new album, which will be available via digital download only. We will have a short run of special edition physical CD's as well.
The album will include works for solo viola, duo violas, a viola trio, a viola quartet, and solo viola with viola orchestra. We will be covering all of the parts ourselves. This will be a very unique album and we want YOU to be a part of it!
The funds you donate should cover our studio expenses (recording/editing).
If we receive more than the $1200, it will help cover the following expenses for this album:
Fees (UPC/copyright, etc)
Short run of physical CD's (limited edition)
DON'T FORGET: If we don't reach our goal, we get nothing and we won't be able to print up any physical CD's!
We will be performing Slapin's "Capricious" for viola trio this summer at the International Viola Congress in Rochester, NY. We will also be recording this in the studio for the all-viola album.
Here is one of the pieces Scott Slapin wrote for viola quartet ("Sketches") that we will be recording on this album:

Scott Slapin, violist/composer:
Scott Slapin's compositions include works for solo viola, viola duo, viola trio, viola quartet, viola quintet and viola orchestra and are published by Ourtext in London, Liben in Cincinnati and the American Viola Society. While a fellow at the Montalvo Arts Center in California, he was commissioned to write Recitative for the 2008 Primrose International Viola Competition. Recitative was later a required piece for the 2012 Aspen Contemporary Ensemble at the Aspen Music Festival. His popular Nocturne is dedicated to his composition teacher and mentor Richard Lane (1933-2004) and was premiered in its string quartet version by members of the United States Army Strings ("Pershing's Own"). Along with his Elegy-Caprice, the Nocturne is featured in the final scenes of the docudrama Secret Life, Secret Death. Scott served on the committee for the inaugural Maurice Gardner Composition Competition, and he co-premiered the winning work, Rachel Matthews' Dreams, at the 38th International Viola Congress.
