Our Journey

After receiving outstanding community support, we were able to complete pre-production and production for No Real Than You Are. All of the money from the previous campaign went towards workspace, production insurance, equipment rentals, props, costumes, and set construction, among other carefully budgeted production expenses.
In early June, we received a generous discount on office space at HuB Sarasota, an office environment that houses both HuB studios and rents offices to creative professionals in Sarasota.

Over 70 actors showed up to auditions over the course of two weekends and by the time production rolled around, we had assembled a full production team and would eventually have the privilege of working with over 25 filmmakers, artists, and craftsmen.

We were also able to work with a myriad of local artists and performers including a master sand sculptor, a chalk muralist, fire spinners, a silk dancer, professional makeup artists, and animal wranglers, just to name a few.

Our shooting locations included warehouse spaces such as the Flow Factory, a fine dining restaurant, and the Ohana horse rescue ranch.

What's Next?
Now we need your help preparing the film for its final stages to make it presentable for film festivals all over the nation, beginning with the Sarasota Film Festival in April.
Our goals for post-production begin with creating a short film that has the highest quality of visuals and sound possible with this budget. We aim to be accepted into prestigious film festivals. To benefit all the talented cast and crew members involved, we hope that we can earn a Wikipedia Page for the project and an IMDB page to give proper credit. Most of all, we wish to use this film to spread awareness of Sarasota and the prescription drug problem affecting our young population, and ultimately bring about positive change for our community.
How Will the Budget Be Spent?
Thanks to the generosity of our post-production crew, we will be able to complete the film on less than $6,000. Here are the most important expenditures:
Professional Color Correction
Professional Audio Design & Engineering
Final Mastering
Film Festival Submission Fees

Risks and challenges
The biggest risk that we run are film festival submissions. There's no guarantee that we'll be accepted to our most desired festivals, but based on the quality of our work, we're confident that No Real Than You Are has a great chance of being accepted to prestigious film festivals.
